E CODE TRANSMISSION WARNING

Seeking the full FORD TSB 16893 re: E CODE LIGHT SHOWING on 13,500 mile 2003 T-BIRD, and any insight from others who have dealt with this seemingly common problem.
Light comes on at appx 40 MPH - RESETS when car shut off & restarted.
Solid light, not flashing.
Can I drive the car without doing serious damage???
What is the fix ?????

Correction TSB # is 16893 - not 16983. I got it mixed up entering the post.

Are you certain you want TSB 16893. When I look up that number it is about the PATS system not the transmission.
Also what makes you think the E code to be a " seemingly common problem" ?

Haven't heard it being reported here in years.

Valve body assembly. Found this old thread. I had this problem with less than 1,000 miles on the car.

We had the E code on our way to a TBN event in Atlanta Georgia in 2003. We were able to complete the trip and had the transmission valve body change when we got home. Then two years ago we had the transmission changed. Good thing we had the ESP.
