    I have the Xpel strips. I cut my own from their general size tape before the pre-cut strips were available. They have been on for 8 years with no problem.

            Wow...my IG still had its kit unopened in the trunk...maybe I need to sell it (I don't use it, either...IMO it's a waste).
            Instead, I use 3M Scotchgard Clear Hood and Trunk Edge Sealer Paint Protection Tape each time I put top back on (remove it after taking the hardtop off)...I also use the open-cell foam to secure the hardtop tighter to the body.

              I use silicon grease (for electrical components).
              Clean both surfaces, rubber seal and paint. Apply a coat of Silicon grease to the hardtop seal.
              Re install hardtop. Get it at auto parts store.
