I would like to see a Las Vegas event again, but it is so much work to set up. Our last event Desert Thunder II, Gene & Karen Collins, my wife Shirley & I did 95% of the arrangements. We got about 5% help from our local Thunderbirds of Las Vegas group. Since that time, Gene Collins has passed away. It is just too much work for 3 people to arrange. With 4 of us it took a year of planning to make Desert Thunder II a reality. To get involved in setting up a Desert Thunder III I would like to see 8 - 10 people fully involved and I don't see that happening.

I am sure there are those who know what you mean about the work involved. That is why CTCI has such big events every other year, forty or fifty people from one local club work for almost two years. Of course they have help from the national club. Leave the judging out and it makes for a much simpler event.

Lon, I know what your saying. When we put together Thunder Fever it took 6 couples and we worked on it for over a year before it happened. I would like to see another Vegas event happen. At the time we weren't able to attend either of them but being retired now, nothing but time on our hands.

I have spoken with some CTCI broad members and they are encouraged by the 61% yes vote. They will look into putting a section in the "Early Bird" for the Retro Thunderbirds. Anyone who did not get a ballot should contact the CTCI office and let them know so they can address the concern. I knew the vote was coming and did not receive a ballot because my email was putting it in a suspect file. It took two tries to get my ballot. The "no" voters were much more vocal and mean spirited about the vote, and now the "yes" voters are beginning to show their disapprove of what went on. If we can get a platform in the "Early Bird" that will help close the deal

Ron...can you be a member of CTCI without owning an early bird?

Would such a member have voting rights?

The answer is yes and yes. I no longer own a 55-57 and I voted. It was my motion last August that got the ball rolling.

So tell me, about how many retro owners would have to join CTCI to dilute the opposition vote enough to pass the resolution?

I think it would take approximately 400 if everything else remained constant.

I have been involved in the car hobby for 50+ years at various levels. One of the most frustrating things for me has been the elitist attitude that a small number of people have and how irritating they are.The one thing they all seem to have in common is most are not what we would call "Car Guys" as Barry would say. Fortunately most are lifelong enthusiast who will do anything for a fellow gear head. Ron is a perfect example of the of a true car guy like we all want to be,Even tho these guys aren't in the majority they always seem the most vocal. They would vote against our cars thinking it raises their level of prominence and value.

Beat me to the answer RustyFrye. I do believe you have the correct math!

So quickdraw this recording from Mr. Phelps will self destruct in 15 seconds. All you have to do is convince all active members of TBN (310) to join with a few of them recruiting a few of their friends. MISSION IMPOSSIBLE.

So, in theory, we would have to get 400 people to join a club that actively dislikes us in order to force them to accept cars that they are vehemently opposed to which would allow us to be part of a club that is cliquish and juvenile. Makes all kinds of sense to me.

Actually, we won the popular vote (so most do want us) but lost in the electoral college. You can either decry the outcome or convince people to change their mind. If 25% of those opposed switched sides it would be a different outcome. Better to win their hearts and minds.
