  • Rear Speakers Quit Working.

All of sudden no sound coming from rear and fade control not working. Any Ideas? Is there a second amp?

Any body know if there is a fuse or relay that would cause this?

from what I can see and I might be wrong(go figgure) the front and rear speakers are controlled by the head unit fader obviously the rears not working and it could be internal to unit or the fader switch itself if when to try to fade the front speakers do not get quieter as you fade to rear then that should be the issue if you can understand them here I think are stereo diagrams for 2000 and 2003+ here https://www.justanswer.com/ford/62cw...2005-ford.html
      figured I needed something here

There is a test you can run on the radio.

While the radio is in AM or FM mode ( not playing a CD) push the 3 and 6. You will hear it test each speaker one at a time. If you need to interrupt, push 1. It will go into a self test mode after you push 1. To view the error codes press Disc/Tune. I don't have document the explains the codes though. I'll post it here if I find one. This may tell you if you have a speaker problem or a setting problem.

One more interesting setting. To set the volume change as speed increases, press the volume button for 5 seconds and you will see a numeric value 1 thru 7. Set it like you want it.

according to diagram if rear have a fuse it is inside the head unit as they are powered by it.. the only fuses go to 1 the head unit 2 the center image amp and 3 the sub amp
note:to see diagram in link above you might have to hit box that says see more

Could the connection to the head unit be loose or out?

You don't have the dsp set for front speakers only? I would assume the rears would still work if set for the test mode but not sure.

I found the codes. They are in the service manual. Not much to learn here. The test is good for testing speakers and most of the codes are "not applicable"
B1342.. Take the radio in for service
B2477.. Points at an FEM issue
B2404 ..Audio steering wheel switch fault

All the other codes listed are not applicable to this radio.
