  • Wassup with other T-Bird sites

Whenever I see a post on Mr. Biddle's site that I think I can contribute to I will cut and past a link to the answer on either TBN or Portholeauthority. Invariably the link gets changed. I finally got slightly disgusted and said I had to tell him that was unacceptable to my way of thinking at the possibility of being banned from his site. His response:

    @coat1971
Making assumptions won't get you banned on this site.
    1. I've edited your post that unnecessarily was linking to a third party site and added the color chart to your post. Linking to other sites makes people jump through hoops and 10 years later when the other site is gone, the link is dead. I can show you numerous
    old posts that demonstrate this
    .
    2. Why have't you asked the site in question why they've refused for years to list us under their "clubs and forums" links despite the fact we are BY FAR #1 in the world now? She's done a great injustice to Thunderbird owners for years by boycotting our site.
Once she lifts the boycott on us, we will lift the ban on linking to her site. Thank you for your contributions. I appreciate you and hope you can understand the position she's put us in. We're #1 now, and we're not helping promote her outdated, non-mobile friendly site.

I've only been here 7+ years and through Spence and Judy's and Charlie and Margaret's efforts have made this the best car site I've ever been on.

Don't have the History to the animosity but can it be patched for the good of the entire T-Bird community?

Bill:. It goes way back and is more complicated than Biddle stated. I don't think it should be rehashed here or on any site.
Unbelivable TBN trips including ALL of the lower 48 States plus 9 Canadian Provinces, 8 European Countries, 3 Caribbean Countries, Countless National Parks and have attended well over 100 TBN Events since 2001 and counting. Best of all ... fabulous friends.

I'm not sure if Biddle is referring to Dot or Margaret or? That forum I've never joined and have no plans to do so. I was able to lure Quickdraw from their grasp.....one more day in Chicago-land and on to Florida...I hate driving around a ton of trucks....maybe one has Black Beauty in it...

David, nuff said. In retrospect I'm sorry I brought it up. His approach continues to hock me off to the extent that I'll stop going to his site.

Bill, I too have battled Mr. Biddle & came to the same conclusion. His site is not worth my time.

I agree with you, the Thunderbird world would be far better if the discontent wasn't there but unfortunately what occured long ago seems unrepairable. David is very correct in saying that it is truly all for the best if left alone.

Missed you & the navigator at the recent event in Minnesota. Great event! Maybe see you at the next one.

Did not know there was another T-bird web site. Other than the F.B. page.

There are only a few members on both sites. Way less participation over there. I think some of that comes from the attitude of the owner. Perhaps he was a former newspaper editor. On the other hand, he does try to help people solve car problems.

They do have a wider focus in that they do not concentrate mainly on the retro. The dust up was so long ago that I no longer remember the problem.

I stopped going there many years ago, I have issues with heavily moderated forums like you experienced.

Since he cracked down on people sending you emails to request facsimile window stickers, and instead wants me to use your @coat1971 so people can DIRECT MESSAGE you their request, does this mean you will no longer do them for TBF? How about you continue checking your DMs there and I will ask that people provide you with a valid email address, then when you send them their sticker you invite them to join here?

Harry, I am behind again so I will play catch up this week. Would never turn down any Retro owner. An e-mail to coat1971@aol.com gives me a good way to attach the sticker I’ll to and send a reply e-mail. Then I can save and have a record to whom they’ve been sent.

As I’ve said before folks, Harry and Dot are the drivers of this . Couldn’t be done without them. Brad ( Bod Sinickas) doing the parts or sale on Facebook is the area from which most requests are now coming.

I certainly like your idea of referring them to both TBN and Portholeauthority in the response.
