Did you loose the so called under mirror Tbird courtesy/map lights when you installed the new mirror?

Nope. Still right there in the header. Merlot is a 2004.

Gotta say, Hermann. Every manual day/night mirror that I ever had required some readjustment after flipping the tab. Are you needing a big adjustment or something minor?

OK, my 2002 never had anything in the header. Lights were part of the mirror.

The error is big enough that it bothers me a lot.
I lose the more distant cars, and lately they come at you quickly.

Hermann, I'm wondering if you had accidently adjusted your night time mirror setting to use it in daytime? Then when flipping the switch to what you thought was night time at night to night time setting, it's all out of whack. I did that once before I realized what I had done. Took me a few days to realize what the problem was. ps - kind of confusing to describe the problem so hope you can understand what I meant.

Inside RV 2002 mirror connector. Pin 1 is on the left and pin 7 is on the right.
Extracting and switching pins is doable.

This goes with post #15.
This modification will not produce an OBDII error.

I did find this to be the exact cure for mine, Dot (thanks to you, Hermann, for the thread). It appears the mirror was put in nighttime mode, but then whole mirror was manually moved to make it work during the day (I discovered this after reading this whole thread). So now (after correction), on my Bird the little lever on the bottom of the mirror must be flipped toward me during the day (and I adjust the mirror for that station); then at night, I simply put the flipper back toward the windshield, and voila: it's on night-time mode. Thanks Dot.

I tried to see if I could find a setting in broad daylight (maybe not a good idea). The nighttime setting showed a somewhat wavy distorted picture (you would never see the distortion at night). Maybe you are not supposed to use the nighttime setting in the daytime.

So I am sure I must be using the correct setting with the flipper towards me, which was not distorted.
I was able to get a satisfactory day/night setting by ducking down a few inches.

I think it has to do with having the seat all the way back and some trigonometry.

P.S. Dot may remember the horrible job done when the Gorillas replaced my windshield, years ago. Maybe they also dropped the mirror.

How much force did it take to remove the old mirror? I worry about the glue pad coming off or breaking something. Did you have the Ford special tool to put the new mirror on?
