  • transponder key with remote integrated?

I have lost my third key so I will replace it now so it's cheaper as I can program it myself(still have the 2 keys required to do so) My question is has anyone got a key with the remote attached to it as one unit? or tried that and it did not work? I have found online keys like that but don't want to waste the time and $$ if its just going to fail.

edit: I decided to just try it out so I ordered a 2pack for 35.00 I will let you all know if they work.

Keith, my local ACE Hdwr. has the equipt. to make additional keys if you have a single one with the chip in it.

You have any snow over there? We have predictions but not cold enough yet..

I had 2 flip keys on my old car (an 04 PCR). Now I have a new 04 silver bird and have already got 2 new flip keys for this car as soon as I can get them cut by a Locksmith. I like carrying less in my pocket.

I have only found these keys for 04 and 05 model years. Does anyone know whether one exists for an 03?

Are you sure about ACE being able to make a second key if you only have one? They can cut the key for sure.
My 2002 requires 2 keys to make 3rd.
Key info and serial numbers are all stored in the instrument panel.
If they can read the key, then maybe they can make an exact duplicate which means an ACE has a programmable key and burner. Something new.

I just recently (yesterday) bought another '05 T-Bird after 7yrs w/o one. The lady I bought it from gave me two of the "flip-keys" but they need to be cut and paired with the car. I too was curious if they would work

I learned years ago that with two active keys a third could be added so when buying a new Ford I go to the parts dept and have them cut me a third key; they were unaware that a third could be added by the owner.

I did buy a Ford from them that only had one key and they had to provide a second. They had to connect a laptop computer to the car and it took an hour or more for the process. If there had been a shortcut I'm sure they would have used it since I wasn't paying. That was several years ago and thing have probably improved by now.

I have these for Merlot. Been a while since I got them, so I don't recall where. Do remember is was an easy Google search and they weren't too dear.

Update - Search good ol' Amazon for US Remote.

HKS, Yes ACE can do this. They have a computer that can "read" the key and program a brand new one. At least the one in our city can.

That is good and different. You will have 2 identical keys.

I made a 3rd key using my two keys and later found my lost 3rd key. Now I have 4 keys.
But, if I want to make another key, I will need to reprogram all keys again.
So, the ACE method is less of a hassle.

Actually, since I made a new 3rd key when I lost one the 3 keys, I now have 3 keys (all different ID) that the instrument panel recognizes. Now the 4th (found) key will no longer work. So, to find out if I can program a 4th key I need to find time to reprogram all 4 keys without screwing up 6 or more times.
                        HKS

P.S. Let us know if you have actually gotten a spare programmed key from ACE

So, the moral of the story is, always have a 3rd key if you worry about loosing one key. If you lose one of the two Ford keys you may need to have the Ford dealer program a new second key at $175 per hour and it may take two hours (which also includes reprogramming your original remaining key).

                            This is all you need:

                            https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Program them in 5 minutes and they work just like the originals.
