That's normal behavior and nothing to be concerned about. Working as designed.

Yep normal because 03-05 are electronically controlled by the Powertrain Control Module and it takes almost that amount of time for the computers to do a full increase in rpm while in Neutral or Park. Consider that the engine is under very little load so it takes its time to gather all the imput from about 15 different sensors as it begins to increase rpms.

Rondor, Was it his computer or his car dealer's? He could be out a job if we tried something like that where I work. I don't believe the other dealers I worked at would put up with that kind of "conflict of interest". It's probably not in your Nephew's best interest to do such things. Be very careful here.

It was his computer with the dealers software in it. He is one of their top certified techs and is no threat to the dealer by stealing customers. The dealership is 500 miles from here and the owner new he brought it.
