  • Pin Stripes

Has any one seen a T bird with pin stripes on the side,, especially a PCR? I have been told it probably was a dealer install but have never been able to verify that. The ones in question have a FORD script inserted on the front fender right above the faux vent. It is a dual stripe.

The dealer pinstriped my 007 with a simple single white stripe, no Ford script. A nice understated look in my opinion.

Almost every new car at my local Ford dealer had a pinstripe with the Ford logo in it. The dealer has a vendor that stops by to put them on. I know this because when I bought my Focus it didn't have the stripe so I asked and they said I picked it up before they vendor made his weekly visit (I picked it up two days after it came off the truck). I don't know if they still do this, but did for a number of years.

What was the name of the dealer? An interesting bit of history for some future or current owners of a retrobird, that own one like that.

Most pin stripes that I know of have been done after owners have bought their cars and had a pin stripper do them.

The dealer is McFarland Ford in Exeter, NH. I got the Focus in 2011 so don't know if they were doing that back when they had the T-birds. I have also seen identical stripes but with a different logo at the Cadillac/Buick dealer, so obviously a vendor thing and not just a Ford thing. I met the vendor once at the dealer - he was doing the "paint-less" dent removal on their used cars so the stripe must have been one of his detailing services with the dealer to dress up the cars.

No pinstripes on my PCR or any other I know of. I do not think I would like the look. I would go with the chrome molding that is available before pinstripes.

Maybe something that is close to the hardtop color would work.

We're lighter. We're faster. If that don't work, we're nastier.

They are the color of the top and very small. they look like they should be there, All of the " add on " chrome that I have seen on a retro looks tacky, like mud flaps on a Cadillac

I agree Ron, Too much chrome is not a good thing. Post a picture of the PCR pin stripes. Thanks.

Ran across this post while looking for post on front wheel hub replacement. My PCR has light gray double pin stripes front the doors on back. I thought DB1F2299-5191-474F-8EBB-89FFD05BD25A.jpeg that was the norm!

Ok abnormal is the perfect lead to ask where our friend Cal Ellison is on this thread. Know he had tastefully done pinstripes that required revisiting after a deer tried to make love with his Bird!

I have a light silver double stripe on mine (PCR), similar to hardtop color. Very subtle and looks good to me.
