  • Good for you Greg. It’s rainy and dreary here with a high of 69 in the forecast. I’m headed to Rich’s place later to pick up the top hoist that he is so generously giving me. This will make things much easier when changing out the top.

    • It is supposed to be 112 by Thurs/Fri, so I prepped the car today to install the hardtop. Laid down some 3-M Scotchgard clear bra tape on the sail panel - used the strips that came with the car as the templates to cut the 3M tape to size. Will clean hardtop this next week and install next weekend - it then won't come off again until October, when weather "cools" back down.

      • Highest I’ve ever seen is 105. That was high enough for me.

        • Anything over 110 for us is really hot...we were both born and raised here, but even after 70 years, 110+ is stay-inside weather. HOWEVER, having said that, we've been in parts of the world (Philippines, Malaysia, etc) where the temp was 95 degrees but the humidity was in the 90%, and THAT was worse (for us) than 110+ here in the dry desert.

We have those conditions many times in the summer. In fact, it’s very humid here now.

            • 82 degrees and dry, what a great day for a Cruise-in.

Nice distancing, Ron. Question for you. Have you ever used a contrasting top on the Dusk Rose? The same color looks great, but I think a WW, PW, EB, Cashmere or Merlot would all look really good on it as well. It would be like owning 6 different cars.

                    • Made a trip to Home Depot for some grilling needs. What a PITA! Stood in a long line just to go inside (yes, I really needed this stuff) then they had just one checkout line (self serve of course) operating. So another huge line to pay.

I understand completely...same way with HD here. I'm like you in that I only go there if I have to.

With a second convertible in the garage, I was going to follow Jim Dube and leave the Bird top on all summer . But then it got to be mid 70s in Ohio so that thought lasted about a week. Top had to come off. Twisted those screws on each side and pushed up just to see I had gone far enough. Dang the front of the top would not budge. Duh dummy release the back latches and it works much better.

We sometimes yap about the lack of trunk space but the clubs fit in the Bird. Don't fit in the Blue Beast as the trunk gets small with the top in it. Ah the Bird just gets better and better.

                          • Have been in therapy for a few weeks for a neck injury. I'm usually the first client on the site (6:45 a.m.), and today was my last day of therapy. At the end of the morning, the young doctor who was overseeing the therapy asked me about the Bird...typical questions: what year? where did you get it?...stuff like that. However, the reason I post is he's a young guy...28 years old...and he was fascinated by the Bird. He'd seen it in the soft-top mode, but was even more attracted to it this morning when he saw it for the first time with hardtop on. The youngsters who like our Birds are out there...

                              Jim,
You noticed it too. In my case it is young ladies in their 20s. People going for walks always manage a look.

                              • Sure hope your neck continues to improve, Jim. This may be my weekend to remove the top. We are finally expected to see excellent weather.
