Well, at least your weather produces moisture. Mark Twain once stated, "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes (and it will change)." So far, no change here...just really hot and dry.
We had heavy rain and high winds during the night. It knocked the stuffing out of our heatwave. Today’s high is 77 but dreary. Hope you get your needed rain soon, Jim. Next up for us is the remnants of the coming hurricane. We usually avoid them here as the Carolinas take the hit.

No, she can't get back up the driveway on that.

              • BURRRD and I got an interesting email over the weekend. Seems that the two Fender Gripper mats (those T-bird-logo'd rubber mats you put over the fenders when you work under the hood) are being shipped by Eckler's Automotive in Florida, and they sent me a receipt for my purchase.

Thing is....I bought them in 2015 from Power Sports. After a phone call and an impossible amount of time on hold, I got someone from customer service. By the time I was 30 seconds into the explanation, Tammy said that they had a computer screwup over the weekend and she'd been getting calls all morning.

Appears that our buddy Phil used Eclkers as his supplier and they must have drop-shipped from their facility to fill his orders. Anyway, she was nice, there are no more mats coming, but I think I will check out their website (as they suggested 1,394,428 times while I was on hold) to see what else they might have of interest.

If you get an unexpected invoice, don't bother to go on the search-and-destroy hunt - the folks at Ecklers are aware and have taken care of it.

Got a check engine light today. OBD says lean on bank one. I checked and found a hose broken on the tube from the air filter to the engine (circled in red). Back in 2018 on my way home from Thunder Out West I had to stop in Denver and have a couple of coils changed. They broke the fitting on the tube from the air filter to the engin and "glued" it back on. Well that "repair has failed and the hose going to it is off. My question is can the hose fitting be changed out or do I need to replace the whole tube. And would anyone have a part number for these. Another question is does anyone know anything about "welding plastic" or of anepoxy that may hold this in place?

                      Thanks in advance.

                      Ted

                      • Ted,
Sorry to see what happened to your engine air intake tube. Our big plastic air intake tube cracked some years ago, and the dealer's mechanic changed out the entire intake tube.
I don't know if you will be able to reattach that little port tube to the big intake tube.
Can you screw a small metal pipe/tube into the big intake tube, without disrupting the air flow inside the big intake tube?
If not, you probably will need to replace the entire big air intake tube.
Check online for the big air intake tubes for 2002 Thunderbirds and for Lincoln LS V8's. They both use the same big intake tubes.
Let us know what solution you come up with.
                        Good Luck!

Well I have epoxied the fitting back in place. Now to see how long this will last. I will continue my search for a replacement part. Fingers are crossed for now.
