Thanks. For any of you that spent time courtesy of Uncle Sam at Fort Sill, the road to the right is just inside the fort on the west range. The one to the left is on the civilian side of the fence.

          • Friday, Sept 11, took the 05 out with a friend to shop Walmart with the top down, to and from. Turn signals working just fine. Temps in the 70s with a light breeze. Much nicer than most of the rest of the summer. The extra large flag that we go past to and from, was flying at half-mast in honor of 9-11.

Saturday we had the 57 out for a tiny cars and coffee morning meet to another friend's home, Ron & Nadine, who some of you may remember from Black Hills Expedition of 2015. They had 8 50s cars there including theirs. Shade trees kept the sun off otherwise the temp was nice, too.

                • Love those chromed 16 spokes, Ron. Better looking than any aftermarket wheel I've seen on a retrobird by far.

I love my chromed 16 spokes. After Paul's post I got the energy to clean and polish them. Look great IMHO.

                        • When I sold my 2005 EB and put the 7 spoke chrome wheels on the '04 TR, I left the red caliber covers on the '05. The 16 spoke wheels were a little thicker where the caliper covers sat, and totally ruined several of them which were machined by the back side of the16 spoke wheels with the first reverse out of the shop. Had to remove all of them afterwards. The front wheels cleared the covers but not the rear wheels. Be careful if you have those MGP covers and you change wheels types!! I wasn't.

                          • I had new shoes put on the other day (Goodyear Sport A/S 235 17-55) and left the hubcaps off the 21 spoke chrome wheels for a while.
I have plenty of stock caps, but was wondering if there is an interesting alternative, still, a "retro" look. I searched extensively for a 5x108mm (4.25") spider hub, but no success there -- 4.5" is as small as is available.
OK, how about baby moons? None available for existing car wheels (8" minimum", but there are moons available for golf carts/trailers, etc. that fit 6" wheels openings. That's great, but the T-Bird cap diameter is 5 15/16". Mmmmmmm still, might a moon baby work?
Ordered a $7 cap and ........ no joy. Too wide by just.......one of those hair measurements.
Can it be made to fit?
Today, I used a Dremel cutoff disk to cut vertical slices in quarters of the flange insert thinking they will compress enough to allow the cap to fit.
                            Still no joy.
Then, I cut one eighth slices. STILL, it wouldn't fit, but bending each quarter in a bit, the cap goes on -- BARELY. Not good enough for road work.

This might actually work with a little more futzing around.
Or it might not be a look I eventually like.
Stay tuned for further slicing and dicing with still WAY too much time on idle hands.

                            • Spent the morning cleaning the outside of the Tbird as well as Rosetta's Escape and my Taurus SHO. After finishing them up, I took the Tbird for a ride downtown to take some pictures for Mike's photo challenge. You can check out the pics in that thread.

I would but Liz will not allow, yesterday the car was photographed by at least two people.
