It's that time of year - put the hardtop back on this week - it will stay on until at least October (too hot for top-down driving).

I leave my white 2015 VW Diesel outside and the other 2 in garage.

Got almost 50mpg an a 70 mile (round trip) drive with a few miles of gravel road with AV full blast MAX. Temp in Lincoln was 90+.
P.S. Diesel was $2.89. The Explorer XLT Sport and Tbird like the $3.45 91 octane fuel

You may be right, Hermann, about black cars. We've never owned one as they are too hard to keep clean here in Phoenix (dust ALL the time), but I have to admit a clean, black car is a beautiful thing. Premium 91 octane here at Costco is 3.35.9 a gallon - and we're thankful for that.

When I was stationed at Lemoore California Naval Station (NAS Lemoore),
the marine guards used to salute just in case it was an officer. I was only a Second Class Petty officer (only twice removed for Chief).
The good looking one is me.

After the great granddaughter's t-ball game this morning, I drove Jewel over to Ft. Gibson, OK (oldest town in Oklahoma) to check out their annual car show. It wasn't a really large show but there were several really nice cars, including a couple of Thunderbirds, a white '60 and a Diamond Jubilee '78. I enjoyed talking to both owners.

I had just gone back to the car to head home when it started sprinkling. By the time I got home it had rained enough to get the car filthy, so I spent as much or more time cleaning her up as I did on the outing.

Several miles from sleeping quarters is needed due to jet noise (engine testing and flying) day and night.

George was in from March of 1964 to March of 1968.
I did go and read up on NAS Lemoore and see that it didn't start up until 1961 and is the largest jet base the US has. I just don't recall ever reading about it back then. (besides it was "over the hills" from where I and my parents lived at the time. ) We lived a few miles from Moffet Field in the bay area.

Dot what I learn when I read posts I often bypass. Tell George I was a black shoe too (AC/OC), was in a class meeting my junior year (VP)in 1963 (Kennedy). And it appears you're trying to do Harry's job too, since he went to the 'other side',beautiful here in North Carolina..

British V8s, a lot of MGs reworked with V8s installed. There were other British makes also but predominantly MGs about 40 +

A set of service manuals arrived in the mail this morning. I don't know if I'll ever use them but if I have to have someone else do repairs at least they will have the reference to go to.
