          Wow! Thursday gets here fast.

This week's piece of TBN history will be a quick giveaway as to the event, but I did cover the name and date to make it a little more difficult.

This item came from a great event, that like a great events started with a super caravan - certainly one of our favorites over the years.

This article is extra cool because the cool graphics feature a picture of our actual car.

          20200430_233852.jpg

          1. Name the event, the location and the date.

          2. Name the long time TBN member (name & handle) responsible for these fun photos.

          3. Who was responsible for the event name?

          4. If you have one like it, post a picture of it.

So far the only 100% correct answer is that the event was held in Las Vegas.

I know I was late posting the entry last night, but I thought we'd have a little more interest by now.

If you didn't, then your twin did. It was the first time you blew a COP trying to keep up with me/us.

Yes Bill was definitely in attendance of Desert Thunder II. The other main organizers were Gene & Karen Collins.

Okay, here's what we know for sure:

                          Event name: Desert Thunder II
                          Loccation: Las Vegas, NV
Main organizers: Lon, Gene and Karen (and a great job they did!)

What we haven't heard (with hints):

Event date - won't take much to find this

Name & TBN handle of photographer - attended both Las Vegas events - will need a good memory or have to search pretty hard to find out

Originator of the event name - also attended both Las Vegas events - will need a good memory or have to search pretty hard to find out

Since I don't like to drag these things out too long, here's the answers:

                                Event name: Desert Thunder II
                                Location: Las Vegas, NV
                                Event date - October 1-5, 2008

Name & TBN handle of photographer - Don Handley aka rodeknyt from California. He and his wife Carol attended both events in Las Vegas.

Main organizers: Lon, Gene and Karen but the event name really originated 4+ years early with the original Desert Thunder in March 2004. The organizers of that event put out a call for TBN members to suggest a name for the first multiple day TBN event in the western states. Desert Thunder was the name that was chosen. See below for the person that submitted the name.

Originator of the event name - Paul Thomas aka 2K2BIRD. Yep, yours truly. Rosetta and I were lucky enough to attend both events in Las Vegas. We had the epic caravan that stayed at the Thunderbird Lodge in Utah with Desert Thunder Ii. Rosetta flew out to the first event, because I had a work meeting in Albuquerque the week before and she didn't have enough vacation time to be gone that long. Jeff Lipsman (jjazz), from Phoenix and one of the planners for Desert Thunder, and I had a two car caravan from Flagstaff to Vegas. Rosetta road back home with me after the event.

Actual photo with event name and date:

                                20200430_231213.jpg

I'm sure that I'm not the only one that purchased one of the pictures. I thought surely someone could post one of theirs.
