October 22nd, not September 22nd, you were almost right.
Thanks. I caught this mistake after I posted this on about 5 different sites, but some sage TBird aficionados caught my error before I could get it corrected on all of them.

For those Thunderbird fanatics, the car was first drawn on a napkin in a diner on February 9,1953... my birthday
Uh Oh. I know some avid Thunderbird memorabilia collectors will now be doing an advanced search on ebay hoping that napkin shows up. Let's see, what is the best description to use......

There is Thunderbird History in the making this weekend in Italy at the Mille Miglia sports car race, a race for only pre 1958 sports cars. The first 57 F-bird to enter, (F stands for supercharged) is participating. It's owned by a German, Mark Never, but I knew it's previous owners and the man who restored it years ago. It even spent a few days in Dallas (for a CTCI convention) back in 1988, towed in a covered trailer by a Ford truck driven by George (0bird2) and me, his co-pilot. mille milignia auto race-tour oct 22-25-2020.jpg
4-day Race ends today (sunday). Hope to find pics of it on the net this next week. It took the owner 5 years to get the info on the car he needed to be accepted into the race. He had to get verification of it's full history in order to enter it. The owner sent the photo to a close friend of ours who had restored the car to original, previous to 1988. The car had won several top awards at CTCI events in the few years it was shown after its restoration.
side note: a 1955 T-bird entered the race in 2013.
Here is an article about the 2019 event. Looks to me like more of a cruise than a race. The winner was a 1928 Alfa Romeo 6C. Lots of great pictures of the vintage participants. All entrants must be 1957 or older.
Photos are displayed in groups of 10. Scroll down. There is a lot of white space between pictures and a small red “NEXT” at the bottom of the last white space to advance to the next set of pictures.
