If your radio has Apple Car Play and Waze is installed on your phone, you will see the app on the radio screen,
That's with an iPhone, I can't speak to what an Android does..

thank you for that info. It will be very helpful for the installers. I called the place that Gene recommended a they quoted me a price of $700 for the Alpine Radio system installation plus an additional $275 for the back up camera. The starter is $300, not worth it. Car is garage kept. He also said it may be somewhat difficult in the bird.

I’m going to try for one more quote and see what I get.
I'm gonna just say if that is a reputable shop that price is not unreasonable....

A word about installation (I did my own), WHOever does it, if the system includes a backup camera has to be super careful about routing wires to the rear end of the car. Do it careleslly and the moving hardware for the convertible top can break or pinch the wires or worse. The trunk liners have to come out and part of the cockpit and the installer MUST follow the existing factory wire bundle to ensure nothing will snag on the convetible top pivot points and actuator arms! Its not hard, but just requires some attention.....

The Thunderbird requires an inverted signal to activate the backup camera; e.g. most radios use a positive output for this but our cars use a negative output (ground); so the installation may require a switching relay. Cruthcfield has all the info on that.
Frank - Thank you for the detail. I was out for the last few days. apologies for delayed response. Truly appreciate your guidance.

Yes, it is.....music CDs and video DVDs play just fine....
Be advised thought that there is a safety interlock to prevent videos playing while the car is moving
so as not to distract drivers. I'm not recommending that it be done, but its easy to bypass.

                  This is the system: https://www.kenwood.com/usa/car/navi...media/dnx575s/

Not cheap by any means but I wanted a full-featured system with all the options....
This radio has an amazing range of audio and speaker configuration options for outstanding sound..
Its adjustabile for the size of the car, the number, size and placement of factory speakers and more.

A little late to this but I am looking for advice or instructions on how the backup camera wire from trunk to front was installed?
How did you get it past the convertible top into the front to the radio. Thanks in advance !!

I'm still looking, tried Pioneer 4660, screen useless in daylight and difficult, non-intuitive controls.

You probably need to replace the clock spring in the steering wheel (behind it actually).

This is a wind of wire that communicates with the wheel buttons. They are a common problem as they wear out from turning the wheel.

I had to replace mine (on a 2002) a few years ago as the buttons were intermittent, cruse quit working and finally the horn even stopped working.

Not a big deal, I replaced mine in a little over an hour but had to borrow a wheel puller from autozone to get it done as the one I own wouldn't work on that steering wheel (classic car guy).

Here is the part you are looking for....

                            https://youtu.be/hNefuSqodL4?si=TK4zsO5ALYukowsN&t=171

Back it up to the beginning if you plan to do it yourself.

Not only will this cure the steering wheel buttons it also cures cruse control and airbag problems.

If I were you I would also replace the automatic tilt wire while you are in there.

                            Hope this helps.
