A couple years ago when replacing the failing COPs was a bigger issue, some TBN members posted that they had installed the Dragon Fire brand performance COPS. I was wondering how they have performed for the users and would they recommend them now.

I' am often amazed how a sexy name and eye-catching color can make a part perform better.
I particularly like the "Flamethrower" vintage repro ignition coils with lightning bolt decals that failed miserably after a few thousand miles. But they had a 45,000 volt spark!
Like COPS, ignition coils will never see those voltages, as soon as electrical potential builds up enough to jump the spark gap - it does, often as little as 15,000 volts.

Unless there are a lot of low mileage/immediate failures, I think we'd need a pretty large sample size of cars that have gone 60 - 100K miles with the Dragon Fire's iinstalled to make any real judgement on them. It could be years before that happens.21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !

Thanks to all responding. I agree, Paul. I was looking for any of the low mileage / short time duration type issues. I am still running the motorcraft cops and plugs that the original owner had installed in 2015. So I will be looking to replace them next year under my routine maintenance plan. I am strongly considering the Dragon Fire cops for the replacement.

Billy, I installed the Dragon Fire COP's three years ago in my 04 Merlot and have had zero problems. When I installed them the car seemed to have more power than before but I did do both the plugs and cop's at the same time so that might explain the power gain. If you do decide to go with the Dragon Fire I would check out their web sit first to see if they are still available. AIP Electronics are the people that make them. I for one highly recommend them much better than the stock COP's. If I remember right I spent right $150.00 for a set of eight.

I Installed them on the 03 and 04 and though I may have just 2 to 3 thousand miles I am impressed with them. They have that quality look and feel about them, acceleration on tbe cars is instant and response feels perfect.Honor the sacrifices our predecessors paid for our country.

Dragon fire cops are still available. EBAY has a 8pc set listed for $160.00. Amazon and API also show them available for our birds. A full tune up with cops, wires, and plugs will be my January project. I plan to go with Dragon Fire cops and wires and Bosch iridium plugs. Again, thanks to all that responded.
