  • SIGNATURES HIDDEN ON CAR

A gent from Florida asked if I knew anything about signatures on the car. I said I'd post to see if anyone knows. This was evidently under the hood insulation that he was replacing. guessing production workers signed off periodically but JUST A GUESS. Anybody have any ideas!

No other ideas here, Bill. Maybe Harry will know. BTW, I can’t see your photo.

Not under the hood insulation but I have many signatures in the engine compartment that I got from the glass house that were people that were heads of departments that worked on the Thunderbird Project when we had an event there..

Assembly line workers often sign the first few and last few cars.... in between they don't really care...

A long time ago there was a story on here about signatures on the bottom of the hood (it had pictures). I looked on mine when I had the pad off to put on the chrome hood scoop but no signatures on mine. So, it has been reported, but is probably not common.

I have one picture in my file of a signature on a PCR from a member here. Came across it the other day but not finding it now. There was another report of one on here of someone finding a signature under the hood insulation.

I do know that the last tbird built had multiple signatures under the insulation and on the inner fender panels. Made by the various people that worked on the Thunderbirds at Wixom. There were a photo or two of that on the Tbird Registry website.
