Friday's event was fun. Not a car show, more so a street party with vintage cars, muscle cars, and unique cars lined up on the closed off downtown street from 6pm until 9pm. N0 awards or judging, just car owners sitting out with their cocktails enjoying the evening while the public walked the street looking at the cars and trucks. There was live music, dancing in the street, plenty of food and drinks for sale. There was about thirty cars parked along the three blocks. The city of Covington plans to sponsor the event the last Friday in every month thru October.

I’ve been going to our town’s local Car Cruise (Dallas, Ga.) which is held monthly for a couple of years now always taking one of the Thunderbirds to show. Yesterday I decided to take the newly acquired Mercedes SLK55 AMG for the first time too see how it would be viewed. After a while of relaxing I starting missing and thinking that one of the birds should have been there. On top of this I really felt sad that I wasn’t showing one of them, odd but it does show my bias for the Thunderbirds. Go Team! I must say that i shosed Thunderbirds nest because its all about the Retro Bird.
its so much better for me that like to repair and find parts when every Body talks/writes about same thing. There are other clubs but i dont find Them so interesting for me and My Bird But i understand if we must let other birds in to our nest

Got tired of the Oklahoma/Arkansas heat and wasting a lot of my Saturdays sitting around. I'm so glad car shows have never really been more than a minor part of a few TBN events. The joy is in the driving and going places we haven't been before, not sitting in a lawn chair telling the same old stories. I still enjoy going to shows to look around, but it's great to leave on my own schedule.
Yeah I went to Old Town in Kissimmee Florida classic car show every Saturday for a decade with my posse and now we're all too old for the heat and aggravating tourists - some are a delight, many are total yokels. I has sooo many stories and good memories. The heat and COVID about killed things and now I've sorta just lost interest but have attended a few retro bird functions. An outing to the Stetson mansion was very enjoyable and I was fizzed up to do the Birds By the Bay Sarasota jaunt last year but it got canceled - we'll see how things go for a while.

Yes……we are thinking of Sunday-Wednesday, April 24-27, 2022 next year, but are waiting to see how the COVID delta variant situation shakes out along with the booster shots. Have not confirmed availability of venues yet, but at least 2 we had planned are not open for visitors yet. And yes…….we heard all the “suggestions” about the hotel issues, so will plan one with self parking!! Will probably make a “Save the Date” announcement in November. We would love to make this happen. STAY TUNED!!

Well the good news is that we will be in Florida for that week. Gerri (You know her as Ginny!) misses seeing you and Karen. She can hardly wait!

Bad news is I'm sure I'll have a heck of a time convincing her to drive the Bird. It sure didn't work the last time we did that.

Steve have been dying to ask about the recent sale and purchase. You seemed to love the '05 Blue and even went out and bought 21 spoke chrome for her.
Was it that disease that makes us want a new ride every year or so?

We’re open to suggestions, but Florida is a long drive for most people and we want to justify that distance. This is the same timeframe as our original schedule.

Agree with you there, Steve. It has to be long enough to make the trip worth while. One thing you might consider is to keep plenty of free time for folks to visit after such a long time not being able to gather together. That means you won't have to work so hard with venues. Also, nothing wrong with some meals being "on your own".

Thanks to your planning committee for not letting this die, for all the work you did in 2020 and the work you'll do for this one. Some just know these things as fun, others know the work it takes and appreciate anything you want to do.
