  • Water pouring out from center of car

Here's another one for you all. This is about two months ago.

Same car, 2002 with 8,500 miles on it. Hard top has never been off. Car has been driven in the rain.

Car was last driven maybe a month previous in the rain and then sat because it wouldn't shift out of park (fixed-new brake light switch and battery). Stored in a level garage. After repairing the car I was backing it out-there is a slight decline as you leave the garage-and I put it in park halfway out. Got out of the car and heard liquid gushing underneath. Due to the location I immediately thought it was gasoline. Turns out it was water coming out from the rear most part of the floorpan just in front of the rear axle. There had to be about a half gallon in there.
I was surprised it holds water as there is no leaves or debris anywhere in/on the car. The top has never been off. Windows are always closed. No obvious signs of mice.

Do these cars have drainage issues? I need to get the car to my work and up on a lift and check it out. I would have never found this out had I not parked the car halfway out the garage. The car could have had water in it many other times for all I know.

I forgot to feel if the carpet was wet. Never even thought about it till just now. Car still smells new inside. Not musty at all.

    Thanks, JR

Given the location I am HIGHLY confident the issue is your convertible top drains. The drains run down in the body panel just after the doors. If you don't find debris on top of the drains the lines are clogged, try pouring water down them and see if it drains. This link is to a video I made for the convertible top but I mention and show you the drains.

Although you need to be a little limber to get into the back area, you can check the drains in less than 5 minutes and you don't need any tools to get to it

That was an excellent video showing many important areas of what is hiding under the skirt of the soft top pocket.
              Thanks, Bob.
