  • April 2022 Hemmings Classic Car

This is not retro related, but I know there are TBird enthusiasts of other and all generations of TBirds on TBN. If you are not a subscriber to Hemmings Classic Car magazine you might want to go out and pick up this issue. Subscribers should have received it. In addition to the cover article there are other Thunderbird related items too. This is always a great magazine. It is the only car magazine I receive, and there are many, that I read cover to cover and do that as soon as it arrives.

ALWAYS loved the '64, Skip (even more so than the '65 & '66). I remember when the redesign was introduced I was a freshman in HS...our neighbor one block over bought a white one for his wife...he drove by and stopped to show us. I think he then went right back home and wiped off the drool I left on it. Thanks for the heads-up on this issue. I am going to go and look for a copy in the store.

We loved the back seat….it curved like a cocktail lounge. Had a couple ‘65 convertibles and a ‘66 convertible. And the Roadster tonneau on one of ours really looked great!

I liked every Thunderbird that was unique and that didn't look like a conventional coupe with some thunderbird emblems attached to let you know what it was. At first, when they went to a 4seat model in 1958 I didn't like them, but with the power of the 352 ci and then the 430 ci, Ford started to win me over. The 1961 through 1963 had the look of the continentals and were still sporty, loved 'em. The 1964 through 1966 also were a hit with me, later years just didn't seem like the personal cars they started out to be. Sorry, they just got to be too big. They even made a 4 door!
