  • Engine RPM at 60 MPH

While in D5 my tach is indicating around 2000 RPM at 60 MPH. Is this normal?

Sounds a bit high but may be possible.

Yep...that's about what mine runs - normal for the Bird's 5-speed transmission.
Huge difference between our retro and what cars with modern transmissions run at 60...my wife's Highlander 8 speed has her running at about 1200 rpm at 70. In fact, when Susie purchase her new 2010 Edge, it was the first year the Edge came the 6-speed trans, and I noticed the difference then how much lower the rpm was in her Edge than the Bird.

Not high at all. The RPMs you are seeing is very close to the expected norm for the 2002-05 Birds.

It's the rear end ratio, it's 350 something. It's the reason for that fantastic acceleration for 280 hp, but you pay for it at the pump. My 2011 Corvette does 70 mph at 1500 rpm..
