Is our beloved Thunderbird returning? Ford Authority thinks it might and compete with the Corvette. https://fordauthority.us13.list-mana...8&e=b838e802e2 The Corvette is going to be an EV vehicle soon so I'm not sure what Ford would produce should they decide to revive the Thunderbird; ICE or BEV. Ford Authority says to stay tuned.

Interesting article, Mike. Also read the imbedded link article about Ford benchmarking the C8 Corvette...something's happening in Dearborn.

How would a grand touring coupe be competition for the Corvette? Perhaps I have the wrong definition of a touring coupe in my mind. In any case, I already have my last Tbird.

Gene, I totally agree with your evaluation of a grand touring vehicle & a type of corvette mentioned in the article.

I too due to my health issues & age probably presently have my last T- Bird. Possibly my last purchase of my 2021 Hybrid Rav 4 is the last new vehicle for us.

That all said I do thInk Ford is on the right track to bring out a new updated T-Bird in any configuration.
Thanks Mike for keeping us all informed.

          Just looked for a definition.

What does it mean when a car is called "GT"?
In its most basic definition, GT stands for Gran Touring or Gran Turismo. The term Tourismo is derived from Italian roots, meaning an automobile that is able to travel at a high rate of speed for a long distance in both comfort and style. With “GT” in mind, Ford Motor Company looked to create a powerful, but comfortable pony car.
          Bird is the word.....

The Mustang has always been it's obtainable performance vehicle. I don't see that changing.

This looks too much like a Mustang to me, but it's only a concept. And besides, this article didn't like our TBirds, so the taste of the writers was limited ;-) One can hope.

Except for the first couple of years the TBird did't compete with the Vette. IT WAS A PERSONNAL Luxury car . That being said I may be able to see it come back as a Grand Touring car, like the Lexas or BMW. As for me I think after owning 6 Birds the one I have now will be the last. At close to 74 yrs. old don't think I will be in the market for another.

Once again, combine the first and eleventh generation to get the winner.

If you haven’t done so, read the comment section on that article. Not much love for our retros.

That's not a concept. Just someone's photoshop crap.
When I was looking at the Thunderbird back in 2002 and 2003 when I first bought one....I felt Ford did a pretty decent job overall of capturing the overall essence of the original baby birds. I bought one because I knew we would never see another Ford Thunderbird quite like it again.
