  • Heated seats in a 2002?

An eBay auction lists heater switches for a 2002 Thunderbird, VIN 1FAHP60A82Y121668. The seller insists it's from an '02, but I'm not aware of any
    '02s having heated seats.
    Anyone?

They are not from 2002 and will not work in a 2002 car.

I was thinking it might be a late production transitioning into '03 production, but the VIN indicates it was less than half the '02 production numbers.
The seller insists it was from an '02.

Theoretically you could put the 03-05 seat heater switches in a 2002 and connect them to aftermarket seat heaters.

Or I wonder if you could put 03-05 seats with seat warmers in an 02. The harness is different so you would need to run wires. I believe everything you need is attached to the bottom of the seat.

I added heated seats to my 2002 when it was still new. There are aftermarket units available. The 2003-05 seats are controlled by the FEM, so those switches can't work on 2002's. I had a set, tried them and sold them off. My switches are mechanical and can be placed anywhere you want. The Ford switches are electronic.

Nothing in the seat diagram about the FEM. Also checked the FEM schematic. There is a seat heater module on the bottom of the seat

I bought an aftermarket heater. Took off the leather skin, placed the heater elements and then re-installed the leather skin. I put the switch on the side of the seats and wired them to the fuse box. I did this in 2002 so details are sketchy. Still work great.

The seller fessed up and said his crew mistakenly listed a 2002 as the source source of the seat heater switches and said it would be corrected.
Hopefully, an unsuspecting buyer won't buy them for an '02.
