  • judging retros?

    Are there any rules?

  • #2
    Yeah, the prettiest one wins.
Seriously, the same standards that apply to all other judging events, stock, mods, etc. should apply to the Best in Show.

I'm sure you're buddies at CTCI have criteria for baby birds, since judging is what they seem to enjoy most about Tbird ownership. Shouldn't really have to modify their rules just because it's a newer vehicle.
      21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !

And make certain your judges are of impeccable character, not unlike this panel.

Greg, if you're going to a show where judging is involved, there is no big mystery. Just present your car as best you can. Clean and wax it. I've often made up a small sign and posted it in the front window with a little information about the car. But at the end of the day, who cares. Just go and enjoy the day. If you pick up a trophy or award, terrific. If not, don't worry about it. That's my philosophy about it.

After 20 years neither of my Thunderbirds are in perfect condition anymore. While neither has a lot of miles, I still drive them in town and take them on road trips so of course they both have little nicks and rock chips from the road, and/or minor scratches from some a-hole opening his door into the car in parking lots.

You have the spirit -- it's not the result, it's the process itself.
The process also makes us look at our vehicles with new and more detailed eyes
and it puts our novo-Birds more into the public attention. All good stuff all around.

Greg, judging rules are seldom cut and dried. It is important that in any car show with multiple judges is that they all use the same criteria for every class such as stock, custom, modified etc. The difficulty is that overcoming personal bias/preferences is very difficult. E.g., Merlot usually gets an extra point or two.

Greg, are you judging in this event?

Oh yeah, and don't forget the "Fire Extinguisher". Why these people expect their cars to explode into flames is beyond me, but they expect to see one.

If your hosting a CTCI show I believe CTCI will supply rule and judges for your event.

The only place judges come from are the members attending themselves IF they volunteer to be a judge. What is judged is written down for the judges to follow. I really don't know if they'll be judging the retros but they may??. Not planning to be there.
