It's been a long time since I've trolled the forums on the Nest. But I just had to report and see if I'm in line with other Nesters. The wife and I just got back from a 1,066 mile weekend road trip from Ohio to Virginnia. The trip from Cleveland to Richmond took us across the Ohio and PA turnpike. Down I-81 to I-64 into Charlottesville and then on into Richmond. We spent two days driving the backroads searching for Wineries. On our way back, we took more local roads across the Blue Ridge Mountains up into Maryland and PA. From there on the PA pike back on home. Total trip 1066 miles. 44 gallons of 93 octane gas. That works out to a tad over 24 MPG. I was shocked by a twenty-year-old car with just over 84,000 miles.
Am I making too much of this? I don't recall getting this kind of mileage in the past. My best was about 22. Car had a typical load, two adults, two suitcases, a cooler filled with ice and "road pops".
Also, this is the longest trip for the old bird in about 10 years. I'm lucky to drive 5K a year. So, I figured I'd stretch the old girls legs.
