  • Did not pass inspection this year

    Hi all TBN friends

My bird did not pass the inspection in the biginning of summer so i was only aloud to drive for one month and show that i had repaired it to be able to pass.
the problem was that it tok almost two months to get the parts from San José California.
but no i got it, so im in the garage drunkning beer and fix my bird

I Started out with nothing and I still got most of it left

I Hope that allows you to pass inspection so you can at least drive and enjoy the car after all your work on it.

When you say the gearbox acts strange, it reminds me of a similar problem I had. In order to check the level of the transmission fluid you need to remove a bolt on the side of the transmission where it is usually filled. And as you check the rear end differential, you need to see fluid come out before it is really full. If you put it on a lift you can access the transmission. The Ford dealers usually change the fluid using a displacement method, so if the fluid is a quart low, after the old fluid is replaced with new fluid, it is still a quart ,or more low! It happened to me and my transmission had learned to operate even though it was a quart (a liter) and a half below the correct amount. Once it had the proper amount of transmission fluid it worked perfectly!

Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with your bird. Before you order parts again, post on here what you need. First of all, we all agree Brad aka "Thunderbird Bob" is our best source for parts and technical information. You should reach out to him first. But many of us on the forum will try to help you any way we can. Good luck getting the bird back on the road!
