I think I have figured out why it seems to be impossible to use a tuner on a 2002 bird.
They all seem to be California emissions (carb).
I am not in California and will never register this car there.
So my question is this...
Is there anyone out there selling computers for the 2002 that are epa instead of carb compliant?
Any way to send my computer to someone and have it reprogramed to a standard epa vehicle (unlocked)?
I even took the car to a professional dyno tuner that tunes nothing but ford and had the same problem. He called SCT and they couldn't help either.
The tuner tripped the pats (passive antitheft) and disabled the car even before downloading the stock tune.
He said he had never seen anything like it.
Must have something to do with California programming.
Any tips would be appreciated.
