  • Side skirts made easy (inexpensive too)

I was tired of seeing the lift rails (where you jack up the car) on my 2002 retro bird.

Started to look into solutions to cover them up because as anyone that has ever bottomed out on a speed bump knows (oops I did) they scratch and it looks bad when lookin at the side of of the car from a distance.

So first I found EZ Universal Car Skirts kit... And it will not only cover up the support rails it will also give the car a lowered look as they hang down 1 1/2 inches down below the rails and provide a lowered look.

    But what? $75.00???

Well as a old hot rod guy I knew exactly what that material actually was the moment I saw it. We used it all the time back in the day to control airflow both under the car and under the hood.

It's a lower garage door seal!!!

Yep all these high dollar rubber skirt kits are simply repurposed as automotive skirt kits. Some even claim it will protect the bottom of your car? If you've ever touched that roll of foam you know better. So I bought one from amazon and had a look at it. Guess what? Garage door seals, no big surprise there.

I read the reviews and many were saying that the adhesive tape didn't stick and they fell off while driving. Too many complaints for it to be installation error.

So here is the correct and low cost way to do this simple thing.

Go to home depot or lowes, buy a 16 ft. Garage Door Bottom Seal Kit - 2 1/4 in (currently priced at $17.93).

Instead of trying to stick it on with a tape product that won't last, use the correct adhesive!

3M black Super Weather Strip Adhesive (use it on door and trunk seals too).

Don't just goop it on, use it correctly by watching the video below and it will not come off unless you want it too...

Looks great and has a huge visual lowering effect.

    Total cost? Less than $40

This strip is glued to the outer bottom on the car to cover the jack points without interfering with them. Here is a video or 2 on what I am discussing...

Your hard skirts look great! Any left in black for a 02?

      Pricing?

Would love to get a set of those, would give it a lower look even more with the soft skirt garage seal attached to the bottom of them.
