But, if you want the full effect of the Borla's
you gotta add the K & N CAI.

After about 5/600 miles to allow the MAF to adjust
      it's pure SWEEEET!
How much does that cost and what exacctly does it do? THANKS

Hi to all you Thunderbird Borla Club members. I bought a 2005 steel blue back in October and have been considering the upgrade to the Borla exhaust. By the sound of it, everyone here is convinced it is well worth it to upgrade it. My question (and hopefully this is still a live thread) does anyone have any issues with the installation on a 2005? Looking over the internet, some companies list it as 2003-2005 others don't list 2005 at all. Borla didn't even list it as available for the 2005 on their website. I just got off the phone with Borla Customer service and the sales rep said they have no info on whether it will work on the 2005.

Any body care to comment? I would like to be a new member of this club, but I sure would like to know if I'm in for trouble before I plunk down the cash.

        Thanks

I just installed Borlas on my 05 with no problem at all. Many have done the same. If you don't do it yourself just take it to a good custom exhuast place. There are also some instructions on this site if you do a search.

Cool, thanks for the speedy reply. I'll be ordering them later today. I have a machine shop so I'm sure I'll be able to install them myself.

Just one more thing. Do you know of any high flow catalytic converters for the new T-birds?

The K&N CAI cost about $250.00.The Typhoon replaces restrictive and certainly less attractive OEM parts with high-performance, hot-looking components. But, the Typhoon doesn’t get by on just good looks alone. Its higher airflow and cooler temps yield increases of 5-15 horsepowerThe best part is they really let the Borlas sing.Like an old 4 barrel with out an air cleaner

K&N don't list it as available for the 05. I assume the 03 version will fit/work? I think someone else already did this but I can't find the thread.

I had the "cans" cut off the mufflers and had the exhaust tips (3") that I had added to my stock system put on. They protrude about 1 1/2" from the rear fascia. Looks great and sounds pretty good too. Xcal2 is next.

Don Fox said the K&N cold air intake didn't really work out for him. Did you get one? If so, is it really that loud? Would you recommend it? I'm just looking ahead to my next purchase. Thanks

Don was not happy with the non-stock look under the hood
If you got the Borla's you gotta get the K & N ?
It only gets loud when you really nail it! Not offensive more like the old 4 barrel V8's with out an air cleaner. The sound of sucking air. Normal driving just a little throaty. I was really not happy with the Borla's for the expense until I added the K &N. then sweeeet!!! The sound just keeps getting better over the next 4/500 miles as the MAFS adjusts.
                              A little side story.
I dropped my granddaughter at school today and had to go in to talk to her teacher. One of the mothers came up as I was talking to her teacher and said to me " I was trying to get you to race me this morning" she then told the teacher "he has the coolest car A V8 Tbird that has the coolest sounding motor, it sounds so powerful"
