I am a newer member --so don't know what you are talking about--and from the sound of it--I think that I do not want to know what you are talking about.--I just want to continue learning about my T-Bird --"BOB"--and enjoy the fun and laughter that many of you have sent my way--this world is so very stressful--This site has been such a positive for me and my mental state. By the way there is something that I have wanted to ask since my first day on this site.--Your Avatar and your signature are so very different and unusual---please tell me their significance--Please know that I am not being judgemental--just very interested--

well, back in 1981 or so, the band Metallica was being formed in so cal, for a short while they had a guitarist named Dave Mustain in the band, he helped write part of their first album. Just before it was to be released, they were on a tour in NewYork and James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich decided that Dave just didnt fit in their band anymore, they said he drank to much and did to many drugs. So one night they confronted him and told him that they were kicking him out of the band, his reply was wheres my airplane ticket home? they gave him a bus ticket and pushed him on his way. fastfoward a few years, dave, still drunk and on drugs, started his own band, Megadeth. He also drew up a picture of what he wanted as his bands mascott, and named it VicRattlehead. thats where the name comes from, he describes Vic in his song The Skull Beneath the Skin here are the lyrics.

Back in the mid and early 90's they were very big. they took over from earlier heavy metal bands. I've kind of lost track of who is who as I've gotten into my 50's but those were some truly fine good old days.

Thanks so much--I really appreciate the time you took to explain----Your knowledge about this is admirable and I can see that these musical groups made an impact on you. Even though this is not my favorite type of music--I can appreciate the talent.

ya know i was looking for something else that i had posted and ran across this thread. i dont care about the rest of the thread but i disagree with you hammer, metallica is one of the biggest bands of the last 25 years. thats all. back to your regular scheduled program.
