I was wandering if it is possible or advisable to tow my bird on a tow dolly behind my class A motorhome. I don't want to damage the bird but I don't want to leave it behind either.

While I don't know for certain, but I think that I remember reading where the Tbird should not be towed by a tow truck. It should be placed on a flat bed and moved in that way. To me, if you can pull the car behind a tow truck then you probably can't tow it either behind your RV.

Re: Towing my bird?
Hi Dave,
I, too, have both a motor home and a Tbird. Because it has a rear wheel drive, a tow dolly alone won't do it. You must in some way disconnect the transmission from the drive train. As you know, I'm sure, Remco makes a device to do that. I am very reluctant, in fact have refused to go that route. So that leaves only a flat bed trailer as an acceptable way to take my Tbird with me. The problem in that is where to store the trailer after the car is unloaded. Many of my friends tow their cars that way and find a place for storing the trailer so I know it can be done.Bob Moss

Re: Towing my bird?
I just drove from Quebec to Florida and back with my T-bird in an enclosed trailer behind my pickup truck and believe me, it's the best way to travel towing your 'Bird. We then took it out of the "box" in Fl. and enjoyed the car for two weeks and put it back inside to drive back home. Not only the 'Bird stayed clean throughout the whole trip, it saved it from putting too much mileage on it too! We even got some snow in NY...but the 'Bird never saw a single snow flake or water drop!... Back home, I took it out of the trailer and into the garage where it's been since, waiting for more clement weather...

Re: Towing my bird?
Towing question. Since these are front-wheel drive, isn't it OK to pull with 1/2 trailer? I presume that is a dolly trailer with only front wheels off the ground. Thanks for answers.Alexander Hamilton started the U.S. Treasury with nothing, and that was the closest our country has ever been to being even. Will Rogers

Re: Towing my bird?
Dave, a friend of mine, also from Houston, towed his Jeep Wrangler behind his class A RV. Once in NM, when he was in a rush, he hooked jeep to tow bar and hit the road. Several miles later he noticed smoke coming from the jeep. Long story short, he had left jeep in gear. Had to replace transmission, rear end and motor - expensive mistake! I would use a trailer to tow another vehicle with.

What was the make of the trailer, and dimensions inside, and specs on it. I was thinking about the same thing, and need to know weight carrying capacity, and anything else you could advise me with. Any and all information would be really appreciated. Thanks for your help and information. Bottomtime -aka- Donn
