  • Hard top hoist hook up question

I hope someone with the same type hoist can answer my question:
It is the electric one and the motor is mounted and now I need to know how to route the cable.

I currently have the cable threaded through the hanging weight ball and with the straps hanging down. Then the cable to a hook, but there's an extra pulley that must have to be put on to ease the weight pull.

If anyone has pictures please let me know and we can possibly email them

George, I'm not sure this will help you, but this is the hoist configuration I use. It gives you twice the lifting capacity at half the speed. This set up should work with any hoist. Hook the fixed hook to the hoist body and use the hook on the pulley to attach the lifting straps.

Thank Ken but I really need someone who has the same type that is shown in the picture.
It was advertised for TBirds at one time but I bought this one from a member that used to be here and then he sold his bird and everything else.
I appreciate your posting that though.....Anyone else

That appears to be the same EZ Top Lift that I have. I bought the manual system and used a hoist from Harbor Freight. The cable hook-up from the hoist to the harness should be very similar.
George I found a picture that may help. Ken

          Ken:
          That may just do it:
It appears that, that set up has the motor mounted on a wall with the cable going to a hook and pulley, then to another hook and pulley.
I've mounted my motor on the ceiling. So now based upon that picture, I'll run to a hook and pulley and then use the other pulley to hook onto the lead ball weight and straps. Thanks

I have one like that. The cable attaches to the ceiling and the there is a pulley attached to the ceiling, too. They have a golfball sized lead weight to keep everything aimed down when the top is not hanging from sling.

The motor placement is not too critical but mine is on the ceiling, too.

            The instruction were pretty good.

              Russell:
I bought mine from an ex-member. So, if you still have those instructions, is it possible you could fax or mail them to me?

I'd really like to be sure I've got it right before I use it.

The guy still has them on Ebay. He is accord296. It may be a week before we can dig our paperwork out.

George: How about posting any pictures that you receive. I have a top lift (manual) still in the box and a Harbor Freight hoist (still in the box).

Note thumbnaill in post #2, that is the hoist from Harbor freight. Very important to double hook the cable to slow it down. It's not a problem for lifting, but it's too fast for lowering with much control.
