    Re: Garmin Nuvi 350 Bargain

    Julie,

You are right about the maps being behind. My 350 still thinks we are in a field even though our edition has been here for 5+ years.

    Vickie,

Just out of curiosity, would you enter my address to see if it gives you directions to it in the new version? The address is 2080 Aspen Drive -Tahlequah, OK. Thanks.

Ok - so you're still in a field. What's up with that??

I was checking some of the recent developments here and things that were built even within the past 12 months are on it. That's the only reason i bought the update - things have been changing so much here, you can't keep up with the new businesses.

I did upload the free updates as well and it is now running much faster than before. John - do they have a Tbird yet? Now wouldn't that be something?

$69.99 charge to update for me. I am suppose to get a free update with my purchase. I will have to call them after I return from NC, no time to mess with them now.

The last software update I received from Garmin for the Nuvi 350 was 440.
However I did order and get the last mapping dvd from my dealer for free and it was city navigator NT north America v8. It shows a date of 2006, so I imagine it should be reasonably current. Will have to check to see if there is a newer version of the city navigator maps out.
                  Take care!!
                  Jim.........

Jim - the new version came out last month. My area is growing and changing so much that I did buy it. The trade off on buying from Best Buy for $80 is that you do get the CD right away. Otherwise on Garmin it will cost $70 plus shipping and you have to wait for possible backorder for them to send you a CD.

                      Re: Garmin Nuvi 350 Bargain

Update on the new software from Garmin. I complained to them via email (it is not easy to do because they try to answer questions via preprogrammed answers) that the Garmin was only 3 months old and already out of date. They gave me some cryptic message about how they can't help how long retailers keep the product on the shelf, but they did set my account so I could get it for free.

So, if you complain to them you should be able to get the upgrade for free. Good luck!

I sound like a Garmin commercial, but I saw this week in an ad for Ritz Camera that they had $200 off of the Garmin Nuvi 350 making it $299. I don't know if this link will work or not, but check it out on the sale page of Ritz Camera

My Garmin conked out on me on the way to North Carolina, it didn't have a clue where it was at.

There are definitely some holes in the coverage with these things. Mine lost its senses when we were on the way back to the hotel from the Beach Boys concert while I was "leading" some folks through the back woods on some very dark roads. Fortunately we made it, otherwise we would have had to wait till daylight to figure that maze out.

LOL....I understand Paul. Mine went haywire in Gatlinburg. It said "Lady there is a mountain here and if you want to get back home you better rent a horse, cuz none of these roads lead to Atlanta"!
