    Re: Garmin Nuvi 350 Bargain

I have been checking out the Garmin 350. Vickie is correct they have come out with a new version. Most of the dealers in stores and internet are selling version 7 or version 8 with their GPS. Both of these versions are outdated. I do not understand why they allow them to sell these versions as new, but....... Now the version 9 has the 2008 updates. Sometimes to make it more confusing the seller will say updated with version 9 or 2008 update. Both are the same thing and are the most current update. Now if you get a really good price on the GPS and it has a version 7 or version 8 (2007) update then you can buy the most current update (2008) version 9 for the $69 and you would still have a good deal. Also watch out for the extended warranties. A three years
extended warranty cost $30 to $100, an they are different warranties. I found the 350 at PC Nation on internet for $357 free shipping and no tax, and a 3 year warranty for $30thru Mack Camera. Will probably order it if do not find a better deal.
Now I hope I have confused allllll of you like I was when I started looking for the GPS to keep me from getting lost or confused. I wanted the GPS so that The Bunny would know where allllllll your houses were to deliver his Easter eggs. Hmmmmmm Lou

Lou and anyone else that buys new,

Don't pay the $69 for the upgrade. When you register your unit you will be able to update to the latest software for free. They always give you the latest update as part of the initial purchase. The problem many of us had is that we bought ours just before this last update came out. We got an update when we registered but it was out of date almost immediately. Like I said in the previous post, I complained about this and they are sending me the new update for free since it hadn't been very long since I bought the unit.

I just bought Tom Tom last week at Staples for $199 $100 off regular price.

        It works very well.

I had to go to 6 different locations berfore I found one in stock.

The manager called over and they held it for me.

I like mine in the lower left hand corner primarily because I have the radar detector in the center and fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror. I don't really want anything else in the center of the windshield.

Ours is mounted to the far right side of windshield, about 1/2 way down, as BobbiBird is the navigator, and she also knows hows to operate the thing........

Yeah Lou!!! or rather - Yeah Toni(?) Where was that technology for both of us when we were going around in circles in TN? Oh well - we couldn't have had a better time going around in circles & we always made it to the right place.

John Version 8 is 2006, You want version 9 which is 2008 maps. You can get it at Best Buy for $69.95 or from Garmin for that price also. Lou

For Garmin the new version is "City Navigator North America NT 2008" . Just came out a few weeks ago. The "City Navigator North America NT v8." or older is the outdated file over 1 year old.
