Re: Garmin Nuvi 350 Bargain
John, Lou, & everyone,
Below is the email exchange between Garmin customer service and myself regarding the upgrade. If anyone has bought a Garmin in the last six months and hasn't been able to get the upgrade for free then you should write them. You might want to use the direct product support email address because if you go through the website it is really hard to get through the "frequently asked questions" filter to get your message to them.

**** Dear Paul Thomas,

**** Thank you for contacting Garmin International. Unfortunately, we cannot
**** control how long a dealer/distributor keeps inventory on hand. However,
**** we do allow free updates for those who purchased units after a certain
**** date (which is usually quite some time before the actual update is
**** released). In your case, you do qualify for the free update and you can
**** get it by going to our webpage www.garmin.com Next tap on the Map tab
**** and then on the Map Update tab. Enter your serial number and you will be
**** able to order the update for free.
