Darrell - Looks good to me. For those of us who are not skilled metal craftsmen, you should market these brackets. Until then, I'll go with no plate on the front until an encounter with Johnny Law. Then I'll just show him the plate in my trunk and use the line someone else suggested - "There's no place to mount it, officer."

Tom: Instead of keeping it in your trunk, place it under your floor mat. Then if you get pulled over, slip it onto the dash (maybe he didn't see it)

dbsupercrew, your license plate bracket is genius!!! It's clean, simple, and practical. I'm going to use THHNDR's idea of extending, add it to yours and apply my own twist.

No need to create a bracket or drill holes, just use a plastic zip tie. Works extremely well and you can easliy remove plate at anytime. I have front license plate cover and you cannot see the zip ties. Takes roughly five minutes to install.

Your idea is fine, but I'd just as soon chance it here in Virginia. Most everyone here knows why the front plate is on Goldilocks, but I intend NEVER to disgrace Moondoggie. The clean lines on a Bird's beak shouldn't be compromised! I've already successfully used the excuse, "Yes, officer, but the front plate is in the glovebox, and there really isn't anywhere to attach it!"

This is what I plan on doing if I ever get pulled over. Seriously, don't stress about it until a cop pulls you over and gives you a ticket for it and demands that you go to court to prove that you've put it on. Until that happens, just play dumb and say just as islandtime said!

I agree with islandtime, it is absolutely a disgrace to hide or otherwise diminish the beauty of the unique features of the nose of the Bird. I live in Tx and it's the law to have a front license plate. My wife and I do not have the luxury of spending a day at the court house in Houston and I don't like the idea of paying a ticket that cost three times more than the plate bracket dbsupercrew designed. dbsupercrew's idea works for us. It's simple, clean, and it can be removed easily in the event we need "Phoenix" to strut her stuff.

To answer another posters question, yes you can use dbsupercrew's design to mount the plate to one side instead of the center. Just requires some modification. The screw mounts are wider on the sides than in the center so you'll need to add some length to 12" section in his plan.

Forgive me for not giving credit to the poster whom pointed out the weakness in the design. Yes, there is not enough support to keep the plate in the same position due to wind or someone bumping into it. Additional supports are required to keep the plate straight. I have a few ideas and I'll be working on that. What ever I come up with will not require welding so anyone can fabricate it.

User drip has a great suggestion too. Please read his post. For us, I don't want anything blocking the air flow to the engine, but if you are not concerned about it, and you shouldn't be, it's a good cheap, practical option.
