The Flex is a modern day Country Squire (albeit with FWD)

It EASILY holds a 10-foot surfboard and that's why I'm looking. Plus I like the two color option. Drove one last night. Its quiet and comfortable.

I saw a commercial HSR on the weekend at a dealer (No back seats or windows) It was orange with wood panelling and white-walls. Looked pretty cool, but I didn't measure it so I'm not sure about board length. Most of my boards are between 9'6" and 10'0" and that looked tight in an HSR.

Ol'Dave, I posted two pics but I guess they didn't upload right. Check the gallery, I put two on there today. I'll keep my eye out for one of those Gray boots, I've never seen one. I wonder if they ever made a Red boot, I,ve got partial Red interior. Leroy

It looks like Ford stretched a Honda Element.

Re: 2009 Ford Flex, what do you think?

FORD has spent the last 30 years moving it's factories out of the U.S.A., claiming they can't make money paying American wages. TOYOTA has spent the last 30 years building more than a dozen plants in the U.S.A.

The last Ouarter's Results; TOYOTA = 4 billion in profits. FORD = 9 billion in losses.

If it weren't true, it might be funny.

Re: 2009 Ford Flex, what do you think?

Are US Toyota Plants UAW ? A little off topic, but they don't carry all the Pension Facts the the "Original" US mfg's have to.

Leroy. The Ash was only available on the PCR's, however you may be able to find one thru a FORD Dealer Parts Dept, that is willing to do a Factory search for you. As for a Red Boot. No, Ford didn't offer one, BUT, a lot of folks here have purchased the cumbersome 02 boot, and have had them Customized to a three fold with Red Leather/Vinyl coverings. A member on here has a connection to have them done. They look really sharp. Whereas Bob bought a custom softboot for the NM, I am thinking of taking the original one and having it done over with something that will match the two tone interior.

There was an article I read in the paper about a Toyata Plant here in Indiana that said the UAW had contacted Toyota and insisted that Toyota allow them to organize a Union in the plant. Toyota allowed it and every worker employed there was given a booklet explaining the benifits of joining the Union. But when it was put to a vote the majority of the Employees voted against it. Most Employees stated that they were very happy with the wages and the vacation and insurance benifits. And I believe it said they all pay into a 401K plan in place of a Pension. Leroy

Dealership notified us when the new Lincoln MKS was going to be showing, so we went to see it. In the showroom was also a new Flex, which had a sold sign hanging from its mirror. Sat in it...Susie like it. I thought it was too big and out of touch with where the country was going with vehicles. Luxurious and beautiful, but really? ...is this the direction we're heading ...seems to me we'd be better served if they brought out the new Verve now (http://autoshows.ford.com/207/2008/0...ord%E2%80%99s/)! Just my opinion.

It's a gorgeous car, Ray, but again, IMO, WAY TOO BIG! It allows the owner to choose the dash/guage affectation, including one that looks 3D...keyless entry, push-button start. Soft leather, but BIG! It's the same platform as the new Taurus (formerly 500).

Don't think you can put a 10' surfboard in a verve....

I have just bought a new SS HHR. 2 years ago I bought a new 07 Shelby, in 2002 a new Thunderbird and in 2001 a new GMC truck. All these were made in the USA. I hope you will consider buying the new Flex even if it is made in Canada. Thanx

I like it...much better than the Edge (which is ok, but too short for my own taste). In contrary to "Jim Dube", I like B-I-G cars!...It's a matter of taste I guess...
