I just purchased as set of the Pirellis from Rick at World Class Wheels and they are 1/2 inch higher that the orignal on my 2002. The old michelan only had 27,000 miles on them but they were dry roted from the sun in the south.
The new pirellis look good and ride much softer that the old. I am very happy with them and the price from Rick.

You will like the Perelli's Bill, that 1/2 inch lift allows your car to now go over speed bumps and slanted driveways without scraping bottom. My Perelli's are wearing well, I like the looks, they grip well on curves and the ride is smooth.

And yes, Rick is the best!

You shouldn't need tire at 31K. I got close to 65 on my OEM's. Granted I should have changed them at about 55,but the drive to the coast should be ok on the ones you have.

Hmmmm anyone have any luck with warranty issues with Michelin? I was taking a look at our '05 and the original Pilots with a measly 22,000 miles on them are showing signs of cracking in the side wall area almost like big weather check in more than one spot? I was not real impressed to see this but has anyone else experienced it?

The original Michelin tires on both my 03 and 05 Thunderbirds still look great. However, my wife has the Michelin Pilots on her Mercedes SLK320. They're just shy of 22,000 miles as well and I've noticed they're cracking too. Tires don't usually last as long here in the desert, but I've generally always gotten at least 40,000 miles out of any set of tires so I'm a little disappointed to see that.

I just bought a set of Pirelli's at Discount Tire for my 04 Volkswagen Passat this afternoon. I had a little over 40,000 miles on the Continentals that were on the car but they were getting pretty well worn and the rubber was starting to crack. Figured I better replace them before we make our Christmas trek to visit family in California in a few weeks. The ride feels completely different. It's amazing what a new set of shoes can do!

I've replaced a couple of OEM Michelin's, but I'm not getting anything near 50K miles! My tires seem pretty much toast at about 25 to 30K. The Michelin's are expensive buggers. I've been used to Michelin's running 50K miles and more on other cars, but so far my bird seems to eat them up pretty fast. No, I'm not running any track days at the local raceway, but that would be fun!

I replaced the original Michelins at 30,124 miles. They MAY have had a few more miles in them, but not many. Went ahaed and replaced them before heading to Savannah. It is probably the fewest miles I have ever gotten from a set of tires of any brand. I drive fast, but I don't burn rubber, I don't make corners on 2 wheels, they are regularly rotated and I generally check the air every time I wash the car, or hit the road for a trip. BTW, I keep my car clean. I replaced mind with Pirelli P Zero Nero, not sure if it will be better or worse in the long run. I think it will be better, already have 13000 miles on them and they look new. Thats almost have of what was on the Michelins on their last leg. One thing for sure, they ride and handle much better.

I just replaced a set of OEM Michelins I bought from OlDave in FL. He said they had 5,000 miles on them, and I added another 47,000 miles. I probably could of squeezed another 5-10K outta them, but wanted good tread for winter. I sold my original tires with my wheels, had 33,000 miles on them and plenty of tread remaining. I rotate them every 5K, most miles in daily 32 mile round trip work commute, I do corner hard, but otherwise normal driving. I'm satisfied with the miles I'm getting from the OEM Michelins.

What a difference a pound makes!! I switched to Goodyear Response Edge tires for my second set. At 30psi, they give a harsher ride than the original Michelins. After being out of town for a few weeks, I drove my Bird (without checking tire pressure) and noticed that the ride was much smoother. I checked the pressure the next morning, and it was 29psi. I'm going to leave them at 29psi, but maybe go to 30psi for trips. If you are experiencing a rough ride with these tires, try lowering the pressure one pound. Huge difference.

I don't know of any gauges that we use that are that accurate! One pound? I bet there is at least that much variance in any gauge. I think even two to three pounds might be pushing it. If I am filling my tires I am happy if I can get the tires to within a couple of pounds. Just me, I guess, but I think you are reaching with this one.

All I'm saying is that if the gauge reads 30psi (or any other number) and you let some air out so the gauge now reads one pound lower, you have lowered the pressure about a pound. When I did this on my car with Goodyear Response Edge tires, the ride was considerably smoother.

I'm pleased with my Perelli's, especially since they raise the car up enough that it no longer scrapes bottom when I go over the bumps at the mall.

When I first scraped on a drive way I was in a panic. I might look into those myself.

Just a reminder.... remember the mess with Firestones and the SUV's a few years ago. Owners were running lower than recommended pressures to get a "softer" ride causing overheating and blowouts.
