  • Hard Top Relay - Salt Lake City to Boston

I am very excited about acquiring Kenneth Shaw's white hard top. But, alas, it is in Salt Lake City, Utah and I am in Massachusetts. Vickie (Dizzbe), being the angel she is, will be picking it up for me and holding it until I can figure out what to do about this. I am looking into shipping prospects but wouldn't mind seeing it take the route of a relay if enough people want to sign on. Vickie has already volunteered to take the first leg.
I am unfamiliar with the inns and outs of doing a relay or for that matter, shipping a hard top so any advice would also be appreciated.

With gas prices, it's going to be a little harder to get this top moved unless someone is going thru Utah to another destination. This time a relay may take a long time to finish.

contact worldclasswheels on what it takes to get a hardtop shipped safely.

It's been a while since we have had a hard top relay. If anybody can help Nickey out, jump in. Relays are fun, and yes, they are a big part of TBN as we follow the top across country.

I am going to try to pick the top up today. And I can keep it here for as long as it takes to get the relay set up.

A couple of options that I can think of:

In October there will be people coming to Vegas for Desert Thunder II - I will also be going. So if Nicky wanted to wait that long, I could drive it to Vegas and then someone could take it from there heading East.

Another option - I haven't been to Moab, UT yet which is off I70 close to Colorado. If there was someone in CO that could meet me that would get it 4 hrs closer to Mass.

The fasest route would be going on I80, but not sure there are many members in WY and western NE. Once it got to Lincoln, NE though - we would more than likely have the coverage.

I believe this is the best way to get it here Nick and I had sent you my comments earlier. Good Luck

Steve Legal is going out west. How about a relay to him, because he will be going down to Georgia. It then might be easier to get back to Nick on the east coast.

I'm probably too far south of the logical route for this run but would definitely participate if needed.
How about an initial request for volunteers who are willing to do it no matter where they are? Then maybe a run could be put together even if it's a somewhat round-about one.
These relays are a lot of fun and if enough people took part it wouldn't be that painful at the pumps.
So who could/would do it? And when and to where? Weekdays? Weekends?

                Guess what I have???

Something is looking pretty spiffy right about now. But it needs a good bath and some wax. But hmmmmmm that merlot / white combo is looking good.

karen - see that's the spirit! Someone can come out here to visit me!!!! You'd be a rare bird on the road, but I'd make sure you had a good time.

Vickie, I bet a PCR would look wonderful with a white top.
What color is the inside of the top?

Gene - you know what they say ....possession is 9/10ths of the battle. Nicky - are you getting nervous yet?

                        Oh the inside is black.

I doubt if the relay will come this far South, but if it does, we're in.

#1 the seller and a coworker of mine ready to lift the top
#2 The seller saying good bye (he was very helpful in getting the top on)
#3 Pretty combo - looks good at my house!
