  • Re: Hard Top Relay - Salt Lake City to Boston

Paul said he could bring me the top the first weekend in July.
Is that 4th of July weekend? If so, I could take the top to Jerry in Columbia, MO, any time after that weekend.

Yes, Karen, that is the 4th of July weekend. If I don't do it then, I'll have to wait till we get back from Savannah or we could take it to Savannah and someone could take it from there. Probably wouldn't want to do that since we seem to have the route worked out pretty well the way it is.

Jerry - We do move fast. The relay really started 2 weeks ago. The top is just vacationing in Draper for a few weeks now.

Actually, we are waiting for Charles / doubutsu to take it all the way to Tulsa, OK for his class reunion. His trip was already scheduled, so it was a great way to take it so far. This is the bad part of being out here in Utah, not a lot of Tbirders. So once it gets to the midwest there are a lot more of ya'll to join in.

The rarity of Tbirds here though, adds to the looks I get with the White top on. Even my Ford dealer stated "WOW - that is one of a kind" when I took it in for the State inspection. I can't wait to see the photos of all of the color combos the relay will take. Nick is really getting not only a hard top, but memories of the adventures of his friends here on TBN.

Nick's new white top will go with all the colors our beloved Retro Birds came in, but once again RED RULES! Of the 13 cars involved in the relay FOUR are the beautiful Torch Red and another is Merlot (another great shade of red).

            Check out this fine line-up:

            Merlot - Vickie
            Evening Black - Charles
            Torch Red - Paul
            PCR - Karen
            Torch Red - Jerry
            Whisper White - Ray
            Torch Red - Brad
            Evening Black - Leroy
            PCR - John
            Torch Red - Pat
            Cashmere - John
            Desert Sky Blue - Chuck
            Light Ice Blue - Nick

It looks like we could use one or two more people To help between Leroy in Iowa City, IA to John in Cleveland, Ohio route and with Pat in Huntingdon, PA to John in Long Island, NY route. They seem to have it under control but if anyone else can chime in it would be greatly appreciated. And that's not to say, if need be, I can jump in my bird and get over to PA as well. All in all this is looking fantastic.

Just a quick note to the participants. Remember, when putting the top on your bird, if you find it hard to get the locking bolts to engage, you don't have to force it and risk stripping threads. You can re-adjust the top to fit your car for safe and secure transport. Directions are here:
