Sal - they are great & you should see all the custom work inside the car. I won't spoil all the surprises, but wait to you see it at Vegas. He has done some very different things.

I thought the white top looked fantastic on Vickie's Merlot, but on Mike's Black, with his whitewalls, WOW! Thanks for the pics, Vickie. That was pretty smart to get a Ford guy to help.

Thank you Charles for taking the second leg and taking it for the longest leg of it's journey. I hope you can use it while it is in your posession. It really looks sharp sitting atop your gorgeous bird in the pictures posted..

I'm confused. Is "doubutsu" Mike, or Charles?
My apologies, but Vickie referred to him as "Mike", and his profile says "Charles".

I'm going to be picking up the top from Brad somewere near the Ill/IND state line off of 80/94 and take it to John/JAB02LHS to Toledo, OH. From the looks of the time table around the 15th or 16 th of July. My question is, how far out from the edge do you put the tape to protect the deck paint. My car didn't come with a top and I don't want to mar the paint and I don't have the clear plastic protector kit. I was going to use painters masking tape as suggested.

just put it on when you meet up... whoever hands it off to you will be able to help...if you go about /2 way to the brake light bump you should be ok but it wont take long to do...

if you wipe it down and put the top on you shouldent get scratches from such a short time on the car... they usually occur when the top is on a long time and grit gets in there... i dont use strips and only leave my top on for 2-3 weeks in the fall and again in spring... over winter and summer driving season the tops off

Leroy: The deck strips are only 7/16" wide, so using the painters tape will do just fine, because that's usually 1/2" or wider. And it wouldn't matter if that hangs outside of the hardtop a little. Have fun!!

Just had a thought,.. (rare I know),.. but what if two non-hardtop owners met as part of this relay, .........potentially there wouldn't be a hex wrench!
We'll assume most have a hardtop at home and the cute little wrench in your Bird's glovebox, (or is it a featherbox?). Now I'm getting pecky pecky?

I've already thought about that and I have a seven piece DX drive set and the largest one fits the windshield screws. It's either DX-10 or DX-40, it's not marked so I don't know if the higher number is bigger or smaller.

Great pictures and artwork Vickie. That White top looks surprisingly good on that Black in combination with the White walls.
