Loved getting back in town tonight and logging on to see the progress of the top. That white really does set off the various cars.
Can't wait to see all of the future hand offs.
Welcome home Vickie. Glad you made it home safe and sound. Charles is right, you started this and thank you for that. The top does seem to look good on all the colors. But somehow I think it will look best on the Ice Blue.
Tommorow we will be adding a leg or two to the hardtop relay. In the morning we may move the top over to Gary's (02TBIRD) car for the day. In the evening, we will definitely be moving it on to Ed's (mtnski) car for the trip from Branson on to Springfield, MO so Karen can take it on its merry way north and east.
Karen is covered up with company and commitments, so Ed volunteered to take it on to her since he and Diana are coming down to Branson to have dinner with us and watch the race and go shopping (depending on gender).
It might be hard to tell when the top changes hands since Gary and Ed's cars are both Evening Black.
Pictures will be taken however it works out!

I'll be rolling south to Columbia Tuesday, the 8th. Will meet with MoBird and convert my Bird to the "Squidmobile" for the trip NE to Lincoln, Ill. (or somewhere in Illinois) and Ray.
Stay tuned......
The hardtop is once again on the move. This morning it rained so we never transferred the top from our car to Gary's. This evening we made a successfull swap from our Oklahoma Torch Red to Ed's Missouri Evening Black. Once again the top transferred without having to perform any adjustments.
Here are a few pictures to chronicle the event. Please notice that Gary appointed himseflf chief supervisor of the operation and managed to avoid working up any kind of sweat on this very warm and humid day in southwest Missouri.

Here are a couple of more. In the last one we are scoping out the area where the top had worn the painters tape where the top was sitting after just a few days of being on the car. No wonder the tops scratch on the sail panels on these cars all the time.
Once again I'll recommend the painters tape for anyone down stream in the caravan that does not have some other form of protection on the car.

OK, I'm getting the top from Ed later today. I have the chrome strips from Thunderbird Concepts and I need to know how close to the edge do I put them. Are they right up against the edge or back a little bit??
going to look at pix on the Thunderbird Concepts site.
They need to be spaced back from the edge. Check the paint where the hardtop sits and you should see some minor scratches. I positioned my chrome strips over the scratches and have not had anymore problems. I think the directions that came from QAA, where I purchased them, said 1/8 to 1/4 inch from the edge.

Pat's right Karen, the strips are too flimsy to file the rough edges. Just place them a hair back from the edge so they strips will not scratch or damage your soft top when you put it up or down. They work great, no worries Karen.........
