John;your post 269 --- That's about a 1948 Crosley on the trailer and what looks to be a 1938 modified Chevy, pulling the trailer.
BTW, I love fried pickles. We get them at a place called "The Muddy River Smokehouse.
Good job withn Nicky's top too! Thanks for the pictures.

      Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Lou
Nick is really lucky since I already have a white top. If i didn't, it might have gotten lost in PA. Thanks Lou for the headrest and visors they go well with the white accents in the seats. Sooooooooo nice!!!!!!!!

Wow John, 400 mile trip to move the top 200 miles east is a bit of a mathmatical snaffoo isn't it. But it had to be done and thank you for doing it. Just couldn't get that one gap filled. I'm sure the rain made it a little more interesting and at least you didn't feel you were denied a top down experience enroute.
Pat you wouldn't think about sending along those whitewalled NMs would you? That is exactly the look I am striving for. Lou is right, the white top and wraps tie it all together very nicely.
The NMs and whitewalls are next on my list. As Johnny Gumballs BlingKing would say "just those last two mods and that's it".

Nicky, You have me listed on your map as being from Iowa City, Indiana. No such place. That should read Portage, Indiana and I took it to Toledo, Ohio not Clevland. I moved it about 200 miles from Brad to John. Just to keep the record straight. And there are a couple of scratches on the top, the worst being below the rear window along the edge, but nothing that can't be fixed. Someone sent a White colored rubber strip that's about a 1/4" wide and high that is sticky on one side. Brad had it on his car and we put it on mine before installing the top to protect my paint. It went on real easy and when John and I took the top off, it came right off real nice. John didn't use it becuase he has the Stainless Steel trim pieces on his car. So I rolled it up and put it in the plastic bag with the rest of the stuff that's coming with the top. But even with that extra rubber strip the top still rattled a little on rough roads or RR tracks. My top does the same thing, so I think I'm going to redo the weatherstipping in the back before I put it on again. Leroy

Even though I had a small part of the relay it was a great experience. I finally had time to upload 4 short video clips of the hard top exchange. Here is the link to my space.

No such thing as a small part Ed. Every link in the chain is important. Thank you for taking the role you did with such short notice. The clips are neat and fun to watch. Made me cringe a little but still fun to watch.

                        ---------- ------ ------ ------ ------
Well I started this thread on may 8th and now two months and 10 days later I am announcing the final leg. One or two weeks earlier than I expected.
The last four legs of this event will all happen this Sunday and will finish at a car show at Syosset Ford on Long Island. I, with many other New Englanders are joining up with the New York crew to do Long Island this weekend and finishing at the all Ford car show at Syosset Ford. An event that has been planned for months. Pat/94MCD has my top right now in PA. He is meeting up with John 3rd Brd for breakfast Sunday morning in Hamburg, PA and John thinks he can make it to Syosset Ford around 2:30 before the show is over. John/JRM and Chuck will be among the many of us in attendance. It looks like we will try to do John to John, John to Chuck and Chuck to me right there on the lot of Syosset Ford. How's that for a grand Finale to what has turned out to be one fantastic ride and adventure for my top and one incredible experience for me.

It was kind of funny, wasn't it? Even though I've owned a T-bird and a hardtop for nearly seven years, I've actually been involved with putting one on a car only about 4 or 5 times. Seems I have to relearn the process everytime. It hadn't been that long since Mike & I moved it to my car, but somehow we were still having a little trouble remembering the best way to do it.

I'd say anyway that gets it on securely without damage to the top or the car is the best way.

Guys, I'm not a very big person and that hard top is mighty heavy for me to lift, especially trying to balance all the weight in the rear. You can bet when transferring my hardtop onto my car, the first hole I drop those hard top pegs in is in the rear, just to relieve myself of that heavy weight. No problem at all dropping the rear pins in before the front, none at all.
I think when you are putting a hard top from one car onto another, it all goes back to that hardtop adjustment that we have all discussed before in loosening those front 3 screws on each side. Once that adjustment is made, you should have no problem dropping the rear in first. Nicky's hardtop is going to be stubborn to seat on each new car it goes on and if it isn't, you were just lucky. jmho ...

Borla Babe, I agree with you 100%. It's not a big deal removeing the molding across the inside front of the top. No tools required, it just pops off and then back on. Once it's off it should be left off untill the top gets where it's going and installed on the new owner's car. Being able to get to those three adjustment screws on each side makes it alot easier to line-up the two front anchoring screws so that they go in straight and not in a bind taking a chance on breaking them or cross threading them. Every car it a little different and that's why I suggested this in an earlier thread. When I bought my top the molding was off and I had to loosen the screws on both sides to get the anchors to line up right. When installing Nicky's top on my car Brad and I had to fight it to get them lined up and I could tell that they were in a bind becuase they were hard to screw in, and the same thing on Johns car, we had to lift the front up about an inch to get them started. They should start easilly with the top fully seated in the front guide pins. But then, that's just my opinion. Leroy
