Ok, I need some feedback. I'm throwing out some thoughts and ramblings:
Jeannie's newsletters were quite good and I miss them. I know they are time consuming as I already do 2 for a couple of other clubs (half my month is essentially gone because of them and because I can't concentrate on as much like I used to).
There has never been a consistent newsletter for all retrobird owners since day one (I didn't want to take on that resposiblility either while building my site (and my site needs some updating now)) but I think we need one that can be read and is available to even those not on the internet.
That means building one with a subscriber base. pdf format works fine for those with internet access but not those without, so mailing and printing costs come into play.
Is there an interest?
I will be talking with some members "behind the scenes" here including the TBN staff. at this time I don't know if this is just a whim of mine or if I (we) will actually be able to pull it off.
I'm thinking of a quarterly newsletter to start off with.
Will this be interfereing with the VTCI and the ITC club magazines?
Should it be under the jurisdiction of TBN?
or thru my site only --- it may have to go as a "business" like other magazines - thus this thread would have to get moved to the "classifieds".
Should it just be a continuation of what Jeannie started and see how it evolves again?
We discuss alot on this site and it would be nice to have a format where we can go to find information that has been discussed. Right now some particular searches pull up too much info that has to be sifted thru when someone is asking about a particular topic so new threads get started about the same topic, compounding the problem. Topics are easily generated for a newsletter just from what "newbies" ask here or even "old timers" come up with.
It would be nice to have some human interest stories such as how newbies acquired their cars (or even the original owners wait stories). I can recall some love stories involved with a purchase. I'm thinking that in any 3 months time period, there'd be plenty of stuff to pull from that would interest readers.
(btw - I know y'all well enough to know that I won't accept "do it" answers from y'all - I want some active, thoughtful input because if I(we) run with this I will be asking for help in different areas and others may (will is a better word) be able to handle many parts of this venture better than me)
