I've heard, that just plain soapy water, scrubbed, willl do the trick. Call you local DOT department for other suggestions. I'm sure they have heard it plenty of times before.

If your car was waxed recently I can hardly think it can bond strongly with the original paint. You should be able to take it of with some mild cleaner and an insect sponge. But be carefull with using too much force. Better take your time than overdo it.

A clay bar should do the trick.

Just buy a clay bar at your local auto paint supplier and wet the area down thoroughly and use the clay bar to remove the pain. Do not rub too hard or you will take off the clear coat but the clay bar is much gentler than rubbing compound, 2500 grit paper or even some severe polishes. it is what body shops use to take off overspray.

Just make sure you keep lots of water on it as you rub.

My wife's office is in an area where there was a lot new construction a few years ago and she would come home with paint or road tar on her car. When regular soap and water failed, I would generally just put a little gasoline on a soft rag and it worked everytime. I would then wash the area with a clean wet cloth and apply a little wax. Always got the mess cleaned up with no damage to the paint.

Thank You very much, I tried the Soapy water, no luck, I tried a cleaner wax no luck,I will try the clay bar, and then the Gasoline, If the Gas Idea works that will be the only time it was worth 4.39.9 per Gallon. Thanks again, Rick

              Rick,

Have you tried bug & tar remover? Got some oil based paint off a car with it once, but it took a lot of elbow grease.

I guess if all else fails, take it to a local body shop. They can probably remove it and touch up the paint in case none of the suggestions here work.

There is some stuff at Home Depot that you spray on and it will remove paint from surfaces with no damage to the original surface. They demo'd on the news, by spraying a big orange Happy Face on the side of a White Home depot truck in below freezing weather. She rubbed a bit and off it came.

They have a different pump spray depending on type of paint and also one for adhesives. Can't recall the brand name right now, but will do some digging

Kerosene will do the trick. Wipe it on, let it sit a minute, wipe it right off.

I used watered down solution of Goof-Off and a clean rag to remove the same yellow road paint from my Vibrant Red T-Bird Super Coupe. Once I removed the water & cleaner solution I washed the area with dawn dish detergent to remove the remaining residue, I the washed and waxed the whole vehicle. You could never tell where the road paint had been. I also used Goof-Off to remove a 5 year old 8" circle of latex paint off of carpet without dilution, you would never know the paint had been there. I do recommend cleaning the area thoroughly after application if for no other reason than to dissipate the odor from the Goof-Off.
