  • Thunderbird truisms

Okay. We've seen a number of lists over the years about rednecks, Texas natives, Michigonians, etc. and we've even had a thread or two here about waxing our cars (I think?) or how to open or close a tbird door, trunk or hood. Let's see if this group can put together some truisms that describe Thunderbird owners. You may include previously discussed behaviors so we can get an accurate picture of our obsession. I'll see if I can get a formal list started out of your posts just for our pleasure in passing on to friends. hmm - good thought for a newsletter article.

    Here's some hints:
    complete phrases such as :
You know you've met a Thunderbird nut when.....

You know you've run into a Thunderbird nut when....

You know you're a thunderbird nut when...

I can't seem to change oil without wiping down the engine.

And I can't walk by it in the garage without touching it.

I try to find a speed that makes the best sound when cruising with the top down, then I set the cruise control to maintain that speed. And I have a stock exhaust system! I can just imagine what the Borla people are doing.

You park your Bird, you zap the lock...and you ALWAYS look back at it as you walk away.

Almost daily when I look at it I will take the California Duster to it weather it needs it or not. Also check out the wheels to see it they need cleaned because of brake dust.

Compliments are the best present a T-bird owner can receive....

I have a little story, do you wanna hear a story? I think I'll tell a story. Just today I went through fast food and as I'm turning the corner shoving an onion ring in my mouth, I see this man, wife, and his son all standing there staring. The first thing that crossed my mind was, "Are they staring at me?" Now of course this is what I'm wishing because everyone that I see when I'm driving I think to myself, "C'mon! Look at me! Look at this cool car I'm driving!" (LOL). And what's funny is when you're driving a car besides your bird that is just any regular car, you still have that same mentality but then reality hits you and you realize that you're not in your bird. And no, no one is looking at you. LOL!!!!!

Anyway, continuing my story, so the kid sticks out his thumb like COOL! and I slow down and roll down my window. He says, "I just LOVE your car!" and I thanked him. Then his Dad says to me, "Do you LOVE IT?!" and I said "Ah yes, I love it." Then I proceeded to tell him that I just bought it right up the street a year ago at the Ford dealership and that they actually have a silver one and a red one there now like *HINT HINT* GO BUY ONE! LOL. So he said, "I was just telling him the other day how much I want a blue convertible Thunderbird" and ended up saying again how nice it was! I SAID THANK YOU SO MUCH!

So yes, compliments make my day and c'mon, how many cars are you going to receive that many compliments on, honestly? LOL! I LOVE MY BABY!!!!! (Oh yeah, and she just got an oil change today and her feet rotated! :)

Yeah, you know about the brake dust, my Dad told me that when I need to have my brakes replaced to get the kind that do not produce brake dust. Have any of you gotten your brakes replaced to the good kind that don't produce brake dust. I forget now what they're made out of....

Whenever you are talking to a stranger that is admiring your T-Bird, you always mention:
What a beautiful car it is to drive
How fast it is with a 3.9 V8
How rare you color combination is (complete with all the statistics)

But never a word about you last service work or COPs problem.

I haven't done it yet but I've read that the Ceramic brakes reduce the dust problem quite a bit to almost nothing
