  • Come Join Us In Branson - July 4th Weekend

As most of you know we will be transporting Nick's white hardtop up to Missouri to hand off to Karen (MObird). Gary (O2TBIRD) and B.J. are going to meet us in Branson for the weekend so we thought we would put the word out for others in the Southwest Missouri area or from anywhere else to come and visit with us while we are there.

We have rented a condo at Thousand Hills Resort for the weekend and are probably going to try to get in a show or two, watch a little NASCAR racing on Saturday night and we are pretty sure the girls will make it to the outlet malls. Of course somewhere along the way we'll be eating out several times, so if anyone wants to get together let us know.

This would be a good opportunity for others to see what a white hardtop might look llike on their car and then they to could be part of the relay. We've asked Karen and Jim work meeting up with us in Branson into their weekend. If they can't due to other obligations, of course we'll take the hardtop on up to them in Springfield to continue the relay.

Ed (mtnski) and Diana we would love for you to join us as well. I'm sure there are others in the area - don't be shy - the more the merrier.

Knowing Gary and I, I'm sure we'll be scouting out possibilities for a future event in the Branson area. Who knows maybe Hot Springs IV will turn into Branson I?

We'll post more as the plan develops.

What a great idea Paul. Hope you can get a few people to show up. We have a time share in Branson. I've never seen it. So far we just use it for trade. I think it is called Holiday Hills.

Paul there is a really cool live indoor butterfly exhibit, all kinds of of Latin American butterflys you do not see here, as you walk thru they land on you. Also a really nice Toy meuseum. You could spend a couple of hours in each of these. We enjoyed them on the way home from New Orleans. Lou

        Thanks for the tip, Lou.

Wanted to bump this up in case someone hasn't seen it. We are finishing up our trip to Rapid City, South Dakota for my uncle's surprise 80th Birthday party. Tonight we are staying Woodward, OK and should be back in Tahlequah tomorrow evening.

The hardtop will be back on the move soon.

We are especially excited to be seeing Gary and B.J. since we have not had the pleasure since OZARK THUNDER way back in September.

Well, I'm not local, but I LOVE Branson! If I didn't have so many plans this weekend already, I'd throw a few things in the trunk, and head out.

I'd love for us to have an event there. I know everyone is concerned about the heavy traffic on the main roads, but there are less traveled back roads. I always get an area map when I visit.

Y'all have fun... try to take in Dick Clark Theater, and '57 Heaven. We really enjoyed it!

Don't worry, Nick, any important switcheroos will be heavily documented!

Sally, we'd love to have you come up. Don't worry, we'll be scouting the place out for possible future event activity. as you know, Gary and I are gluttons for punishment - challenging event logistics are us!

The Dick Clark Theatre is definitely fun and '57 Heaven is one of the coolest car museums I have ever seen.

                    Paul -

Kathleen and I just spent the first week of June in Branson and had a wonderful day with Ed & Diana Horton. We will not be able to make this event but will see you in Nashville.

                      Bill and Johnny,

We will see you guys down the road for sure. We weren't really planning on a Branson trip in the middle of all the other things we have going on right now, but just couldn't turn down the chance to be part of the hardtop relay to Karen and to hang out with Gary & B.J. Seeing Ed and Diana will be another added bonus!

It is pretty much a last minute deal with virtually no structure at this point. In fact, we still haven't nailed down when the hardtop will actually be transferred to Karen's car. Guess we have a little over 2 days to get that accomplished. It is fun to not have to have everything planned to the max for a change.

Re: Come Join Us In Branson - July 4th Weekend

We made it to Branson and are having a great time with Gary & B.J. This afternoon after a nice lunch at the Olive Garden the guys and gals went their separate ways for awhile. Gary and I took in the Titanic Museum ( http://www.titanicbranson.com/ ) and a local NASCAR Shop while the girls hit the outlet mall.

The Titanic Exhibit was excellent and we both recommend it to anyone who is a history buff and enjoyed the movie. When you go in that give you a boarding pass with the name of a passenger or crew member on it and then while you are in the museum you learn the fate of the person that day in April of 1912. My person was a 6 year old boy from a wealthy family that were traveling 1st Class - he and his parents survived the ship's sinking. The only picture made of a child on the ship was one of this little boy. Gary's person was the Second Officer of the ship. He was off duty when the ship hit the iceberg but immediately helped get the life boats ready for off loading. As it turned out he was the only Officer from the ship whose life boat went back to find survivors in the water.

To guesses what the girls did - they shopped till they dropped! The attached picture is proof.

Re: Come Join Us In Branson - July 4th Weekend

We had fine day in Branson after a late breakfast (delayed a little by a morning thunderstorm) at the Cracker Barrel. The rest of the day we did a little shopping and sightseeing before meeting Ed and Diana at Famous Dave's BBQ at Branson Landing for an early dinner. The ribs were some of the best I've ever tasted and the company was even better. I can also highly recommend the bread pudding with praline sauce if you are looking for a serious way to feed your sweet tooth.

After dinner we came back to the condo and swapped the top before heading upstairs to watch the NASCAR race. The gals were having so much fun visiting that they didn't even head back out to the outlet malls for more shopping.

All in all another great day with T-bird friends!
