I do not want to be part of any unpleasantness or create an unwanted stir, but I do have to agree with Claude, V-8 Cat. I think aftermarket modifications cheapen the look of the Thunderbird. The only modification I have made to my car is the addition of the Ford chrome hood scoop. Two things justified this modification in my mind. First, the hood scoop is a Ford part. Second, the '55-'57 T-Birds had a chrome hood scoop, so there is heritage in the part. I don't like the wood dash kits I have seen in other Retro Birds. Wood accents look great in a car like the Jaguar XK-8, but not in the T-Bird. It is not that kind of car. But I realize this is my editorial opinion, for what it is worth.

And, Dave, you da man! I'm happy to see you do what you want with your car. A car is to be enjoyed by its owner, and it's nobody else's business what you do with it.

I think you've got it REVERSED about who is wearing the leisure suit and who is wearing the Armani here. Make sure you wear a gold chain with your leisure suit. It will be the perfect "mod" for your outfit.

Let's not see who can lift a leg high than another here.

This whole thread merely started with a member announcing the availability of a few Dash Kits at a very reasonable fee. That's all it ever was/and should be.

Your expression of just wanting to add a little chrome to the hood area is fine, for you and those that feel that is all they want to do. Some of us, like to take it a little further, and some a lot further. It's simply a matter of personal taste. And to me, there is no other vehicle out there that is a more personal ride than our Thunderbirds.

The attacks on me were uncalled for. I've even had a PM from a member saying so and that they saw nothing offensive about the initial post I made and gave me condolences for the subsequent criticism. SOME people just love to attack, but when someone fights back the "posse" gets all upset. I learned that in the Politics forum here, and that is why I never venture there anymore. There are some people (not everyone) here that do not want a honest opinion only validation of how great they and their cars are. I would never criticize a modification already made, but when someone posts a potential one, I did not think it was out-of-line to give an opinion. But on this site I should know better - Here if somebody disagrees with an opinion whether it be political or modifications to a Tbird they want to hammer you into submission.

Well I can tell you something good that has come out of this thread...I've decided that I want to get a dash kit!!

The stock plastic is really starting to look bad especially around the radio knobs...I think the 301 protectant doesn't stick as well to anywhere that the grease from your finger touches.

Own a 03 evening black bird. The previous owner installed a burl wood kit in the center stack,I guess to go with the saddle seats.I was thinking of putting a piano black kit on the rest of the interior, would appreciate some opinions considering my ability to accent an interior is extremely limited.

The Piano Black has an awesome look to it. That one is very high on my list of possibilities also. I first saw it in the ROUSH BlackJack Mustang. (which I almost owned).It is very classy. These Kits all come pre-cut (by laser), and are designed for covering ALL the flat black plastic area's of the interior. You never have to use all the pieces. And as a matter of fact, you can usually find someone else who would want the ones you don't use. A partial install is very classy, and not overboard, reguardless of Style/colour you decide on. I am considering the console area and door rests, area myself, and part of the Stack.

Descriptions & discussions & dissention about mods are all well & good, I suppose, but what I'd REALLY like to see posted here (or anywhere on the site) are photos. Isn't that part of the reason for mods? Partly to satisfy one's own desires, but also to create visual impact for others to see?
