  • We are selling the Bird

Just wanted to post here that Sandy and I are planning to sell the Bird this summer as we prepare for a more practical approach to life. Yes, it's true; she is retiring in two years and we just don't see this car working for us any longer.

It seems like we are always needing a back seat to do fun things with family and friends. As a result, the Bird sits home even on nice days as we take the Escape for a wine tasting trip, or other day trip. Oh well, we had a lot of fun over the 8 years, including the time from concept, to delivery, to today.

We especially enjoyed the TBird events with our friends here. In fact, if not for those times, we probably would have sold the car two years ago. This is the longest I have ever owned a car, so I guess that shows how much we have enjoyed it and all of you.

I have posted the car in the classified section here, and have begun advertising locally. I still plan on checking in here, and will not completely "drop off the edge of the Earth."

      Paul,
We have weighed the pros and cons for two months now, and finally came to a decision that we feel comfortable with. But we will still keep in touch. Thanks for you comment, we really have enjoyed our gatherings. They have been highlights of our summers more than once.

Chris, wow, never thought you'd make that decision! We feel the pinch of having only 2 seaters running, too, but we've always made it work when necessary for more seats - like put two cars on the road instead of one. Do chime in when you check us out instead of lurking.

Chris, Sorry to hear this, you've been around from the very beginning of TBN and even before that. But I guess you know what you have to do. Getting ready for retirement can mean making some big changes in ones life. Take care and check in every now and then.

Chris the best of luck in your retirement. May all your skies be blue (Thunderbird) and all your lights be green. It is a tough decision to sell the bird I'm sure.

Sad to see anyone wanting to sell their Bird. I too am looking forward to retirement but I thought I would be able to use the TBird alot more than I do now. Would have the time to just drive around or take trips to the Thunderbird events. Best of Luck to you.

                    Chris,
I was shocked and suprised to read your post. We really enjoyed having you and Sandy at T-bird events. Don't be a stranger just because you sell your car. Please keep in touch, you know my email.

Re: We are selling the Bird

Thanks everyone for your nice comments, I really appreciate them. This has been a difficult decision, but we will still look forward to an occasional event regardless of selling the Bird. The whole process was a terrific one. You all have a special spot in our memories and will continue to be some of our best friends. Just remember "I'll be back!"

Thanks for the reminder Dot. I will try to post more consistently when I drop by, rather than just check out the news. Raven, that's just one of the wine tasting trips in my avatar. We did another one a couple of weeks ago. Still get comments on the car whenever we take it. In addition to the TBN caravans, that will be the other thing I miss.

Now off for the holidays in the Escape, hauling 3 nephews and nieces, lots of luggage and golf bags. The Bird will be lonely another holiday! I will try to drop by while on the road.

                      Be safe,
                      Chris

Re: We are selling the Bird

Sry to hear this Chris. But I have to admit, even we use our 05 Escape more and more when we need to travel. BUT, I really really really missed the Bird's I had, and had to get another. Remember retirement is a blessing, as is our Bird's. They DO go hand in hand, and it's a pure joy to just hop in her for daily runs or just overniter's. Soooooooo, long story short. Find some other toy's to part with. It's okay to leave the Bird in the gararge, and only use on special occasions. Oh and two sets of Golf Club's DO FIT in the trunk!

It's sad that you will be selling your Bird Chris, but I'm glad to hear you and Sandy will still attend an occassional event! I join with everyone who's responded...don't forget to check in on us, and please continue to post.

BTW: I had noticed that you hadn't been around in a while. I think Dot and I even discussed it. Glad y'all are okay!

Hi Chris, sorry to hear you are selling the Bird, but I am sure we will keep meeting you in TBN. You were one of the first members back when I entered that I had contact with. Stick around and stay part of the fun.

Chris - while it's always sad to see such a dedicated member/owner part with their Tbird - you have to do what is right for you. As all above me have said, this is more about just owning a car. Once you're a member of TBN, it needs to stick with you. Who else could ever understand how we act??? Please keep online and join in the events. And good luck in selling your beauty.
